We are seeking an experienced HR professional to join the team as the primary partner for VPs across four groups including: R&D Operations & Portfolio Mgmt, Customer Collaborations, Emerging Applications and Medical Genomics Research within our global R&D organization. The role is based in San Diego and reports directly to the R&D HR Business Lead. All About YouResponsibilities:Collaborates with highly innovative, energetic business leaders to define organizational and people strategies that effectively support Illumina’s strategy and deliver results.Serves as part of each VP leadership team, attending weekly staff meetings, and providing real-time HR guidance to the business.Ensures effective leadership teams and succession pipelines through leadership development, hiring, and coaching. Leads core HR programs for the business including talent reviews, succession planning, quarterly “performance enablement”, compensation planning (merit and equity cycles), etc.Provides consultation on employee engagement and retention to support the desired organizational culture.Provides advice and guidance on all aspects of performance management including employee coaching and development, performance improvement and discipline conversations, investigations of complex employee relations issues, terminations and reductions in force when appropriate. Partners with HR COEs (Talent Management, Benefits, Talent Acquisition, People Support, Compensation, Employee Communications, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) to deliver effective HR solutions to their employee population.Leads specific project work as determined by both business priority and HR initiatives to drive results.May participate in and provide facilitation of online or in-person courses (with train-the-trainer support as needed).In partnership with HRBP lead, works in collaboration across site and regional HR teams in the coordination and integration of initiatives across geographies including our Madison, Foster City, Singapore and Cambridge, UK sites.Participates in cross-functional work groups to gain and offer HR insight on business and operational challenges.May participate in development and administration of HR policies & procedures.May conduct exit interviews and perform ongoing qualitative data analysis of turnover, discipline, and other metrics.Requirements:Prior experience supporting R&D functions and working with highly technical leaders is preferred (though not required).Proven communication and influencing skills with a demonstrated capacity to effectively and practically communicate HR practices to meet business needs in a complex, fast-moving environment.Minimum of 4 years of HR Business Partnering and 8 years broad HR domain experience.Demonstrated ability to balance advocacy for company initiatives, policies and practices in balance with employee advocacy. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
