The EHS Staff Specialist shall provide EHS technical expertise for our facility that houses both manufacturing and research and development activities. The EHS Staff Specialist will collaborate closely with Global EHS in influencing the development of global EHS policies and strategic initiatives for the purpose of planning, implementing and driving programs / processes at the site level. The EHS Staff Specialist shall act as a proactive site advocate for EHS to confidently deliver EHS initiatives to SG Hub business functions for feedback and acceptance. The EHS Staff Specialist shall support in the coaching and training of the EHS specialist team. The vision for Illumina is that every Illumina employee will be a leader in EHS. This role is based in Singapore and reports to the EHS Senior Manager, for Singapore Hub.Tasks and Responsibilities:Support the EHS Senior Manager directly on all EHS matters for Singapore HubProvide EHS expertise to support the growing footprint of manufacturing and research and development activities in Singapore:Maintain proficiency in regulations, standards, guidelines and trends in Environment, Health and Safety and communicate such requirements to internal stakeholders.Facilitate and approve hazard identification and risk management assessments in collaboration with impacted stakeholders.Conduct incident investigation, inspection and audits; identify root causes of deficiencies and ensures implementation of corrective actions.Prepare and conduct safety training including chemical, biological, general and physical hazards in laboratories and manufacturing spaces, and other customized trainings.Assess the impact of EHS changes in process, equipment or facilities in accordance with Illumina’s management of change procedure.Review and approve EHS permits for contractors’ activities and operations.Liaise with landlord on EHS matters for buildings occupied by SG HubLiaise with Government agencies on EHS matters (i.e., permits and licenses applications, reporting, regulatory inspections) and ensure compliance with company policies and local regulationsAct as Secretary of EHS Committee and EHS Council to manage, review, prepare and present EHS informationAdminister EHS related promotional campaigns, application of awards and ensuring EHS communications are distributed across SG HubImplement, manage and maintain an effective management system that meets the standards of ISO 14001, ISO 45001 system and BizSAFE STAR  Support the implementation of the Energy Management System and related Program, including collaboration with the site Singapore Certified Energy Manager (SCEM)Conduct and manage internal audits from planning, conducting, reporting, and following up on the assigned audits.Lead and facilitate external re-certification audits and continual assessments, including the formulation of corrective action plans based on audit findings.Lead, implement and sustain the Safety Culture program for SG hub by ensuring continued collaboration efforts with impacted stakeholders.Work with Global EHS in the review of global standards to determine impact, relevancy etc and determine the need for development or revision of such site procedures and instructions to ensure compliance to standards.Other responsibilities may include regulatory research and interpretation, planning, participation in cross business projects information systems evaluation and implementation.Perform any other projects and activities as assigned and or neededAll listed tasks and responsibilities are deemed as essential functions to this position; however, business conditions may require reasonable accommodations for additional tasks and responsibilities.Preferred EducationBachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or a related field is preferredPossession of professional EHS certifications (Registered Workplace Safety and Health, Certified Occupational Hygienist, Fire Safety Manager, Bio-safety Coordinator)Preferred Requirements:Minimum 8 years of industrial EHS experience with operational hands on in a relevant industryDemonstrated knowledge of Workplace Safety Health regulatory requirements, EHS policies, procedures and programs; knowledge of Biological and Toxins Act (BATA)Lead auditor in ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systemsFamiliarity with ISO 50001 Energy Management System is highly advantageousHigh level of initiative with good sense of responsibility, drive and independence.Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with individuals at all levelsExcellent organizational and coordination skillsAll listed requirements are deemed as essential functions to this position; however, business conditions may require reasonable accommodations for additional tasks and responsibilities.Illumina believes that everyone has the ability to make an impact, and we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer committed to providing employment opportunity regardless of sex, race, creed, color, gender, religion, marital status, domestic partner status, age, national origin or ancestry, physical or mental disability, medical condition, sexual orientation, pregnancy, military or veteran status, citizenship status, and genetic information.
