BIOS Firmware EngineerDescription -HP is growing our highly skilled Innovation team with the addition of a UEFI BIOS Engineer, seeking an individual with diverse experiences and industry leading expertise. The successful candidate will work closely with our Hardware, Firmware, and Software teams, focused on new concepts, feature development, power and performance optimization, and driving a best-in-class implementation of a modern PC. The engineer maintains advanced knowledge of PC capabilities and makes recommendations or decisions on firmware and hardware configurations and development choices. Will be responsible for analysis, design, programming, debugging, and troubleshooting firmware in embedded applications.Responsibilities • Designs enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems of firmware, including DSP, embedded code, and PC BIOS/UEFI• Leads projects internal and outsourced development partners responsible for all stages of design and development for complex products and platforms, including solution design, analysis, coding, testing, and integration• Manages and expands relationships with internal and outsourced development partners on firmware design and development• Writes and executes complete testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portion of application; identifies and debugs, and creates solutions for issues with code and integration into application architecture• Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with systems design and development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality and mitigate failure risk• Provides domain-specific expertise and overall firmware leadership and perspective to cross- organization projects, programs, and activities• Drives innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the firmware design organization• Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff membersKnowledge & Skills• Advanced technical knowledge of complex software systems, including enterprise, middleware, firmware, and embedded systems• Strong experience in software development, systems engineering, or software product management. or electrical engineering• Expert business acumen and knowledge of root cause analysis and problem detection• Extensive experience with multiple firmware design tools and languages. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills• Experience in overall architecture of firmware and interaction with hardware designs for products and solutions• Designing and integrating firmware into overall architecture and hardware design• Evaluating forms and processes for firmware testing and methodology, including writing and execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language• Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at senior management levels• Expert team skills and ability to cross functionally drive/influence work through others, ability to mentor and lead teams to achieve results for complex, ambiguous projectsScope & Impact• Impact of decisions can often alter product timelines by multiple quarters• Impacts efficiencies and delivery times across all software teams, takes responsibility for the quality of deliveries• Proactively and effectively interacts and partners across different departments within and outside the software engineering functionComplexity• Moderate to highEducation & Experience• Bachelor's degree in relevant area or demonstrated competence.
