Job title:  Director of Consulting, North APACDepartment:  Academic & Government, Research & Analytics                Reports to: VP Research Partnerships and ConsultingLocation: JapanLine Management: Team 3 Consultants based in JapanMain Purpose of Job:Leadership of the North APAC consulting team to deliver on consulting engagements across Japan and South Korea.  Working in close collaboration with sales colleagues, the role involves engaging with customers to scope projects, and liaising with Business Operations to oversee the resourcing and execution of projects. About the Job:We are seeking an experienced Consultant for our global Academic & Government practice to design, conduct and manage innovative quantitative analyses for program evaluation, science management and research assessment. With a focus on North APAC, bringing the required experience and possible networks for those regions.The position offers challenging hypothesis-driven projects for professionals with a scientific background and leadership experience around data-driven science management. The Director of Consulting will have responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:Drive business development/new business by leveraging existing network as well as Clarivate’s network, engaging with C-suit profile at Academic and Government InstitutesRoughly 40% time spend on business development with annual targe of ~ $1.4mln. in bookings and ~60% on project delivery e.g., quality assurance, final reporting, coaching project team members, etc.Consulting with clients to define their needs and ensuring client satisfaction through delivery of quality services completed within the agreed upon timeframesIdentifying appropriate methodologies to answer client questions, and interpreting resultsLeading the design and implementation of projects as a senior member of a multidisciplinary analyst teamDriving projects to completion within a designated budget and timeframeCollaborating with a diverse group of subject matter experts, executives and managersCommunicating complex research findings and innovative methodologies clearly and effectively through written research reports, data visualizations, client or conference presentations and peer-reviewed journal publicationsWorking independently and as part of a teamDeveloping and adhering to project plans, schedules, and milestones, while adhering to standard processes and methodologiesServing as a point of contact to answer client questions and resolve project issuesManaging both people and projects; project management skills and capabilities and people managerial experience managing and coaching direct reportQualifications:At least 5 years of relevant consulting/advisory experience supporting clients within the academic and/or government spacesExperience working with government agencies or research funding agencies in evaluating or managing scientific portfoliosFamiliarity with how science is performed, funded, and managedKnowledge of science citation data such as Web of Science, bibliometric and scientometric methodsComfortable with data analysis including the use of SQL, R, or PythonAbility to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sourcesDemonstrated project and team management capabilitiesProven record in new business development in MENA and APACIt is the policy of Clarivate to provide equal employment opportunity (EEO) to all persons regardless of age, colour, national origin, citizenship status, physical or mental disability, race, religion, creed, gender, pregnancy, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, genetic information, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law.
