The Responsible AI (RAI) team sits within the Integrity team and reports up to Workday’s Chief Compliance Officer, providing access to cross-functional senior executives as well as Workday’s Board of Directors. RAI is a team of cross-disciplinary social and data scientists who convene experts from around the company to advise on the development and maintenance of policies and procedures to map, measure, manage, and govern risks arising from the development of AI solutions.About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to shape and influence the Responsible AI program at Workday. This Senior Program Manager will work closely with experts both within and across teams to coordinate efforts related to building and implementing this program. In this role, you will report directly to the Head of Responsible AI, helping to grow and maintain an effective program that ultimately nurtures customer trust in Workday’s AI and ML-based products and services. This role requires thought leadership, creative problem solving, and technical implementation of the Responsible AI program. Much of your time will be spent building technical tools to fully implement and stand up the program. We are goal-oriented, understanding that progress comes sometimes in incremental steps and other times in giant leaps. We adjust our approach to current conditions, never making the perfect the enemy of the good. We roll up our sleeves and dive in, always working to build and nurture relationships with our stakeholders. This is a purposeful, high visibility program with an ambitious agenda and senior executive support.ResponsibilitiesWork with experts within the team and cross-functionally to develop and manage Responsible AI policies, procedures, training, and awareness to foster industry-leading Responsible AI-by-Design governance practiceDesign and oversee monitoring systems to formalize Workday’s technical implementation of AI risk management controls Collaborate with other SMEs to conduct bias testing on Workday’s AI/ML products Collaborate with Workday’s ML Engineers to brainstorm and prototype innovative solutions and engineering pipelines needed to implement Workday’s Responsible AI program priorities Explore vendor partnerships in the Responsible AI space to help augment our governance capabilities as we continue to scaleCoordinate team efforts to achieve cross-functional goals such as building out frameworks and tools enabling the adoption of our Responsible AI-by-Design methodologyInvestigate and understand evolving business and compliance needs to develop new initiatives as the Responsible AI team growsAbout YouBasic QualificationsDegree or formal certification in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or other relevant quantitative or engineering field6+ years of experience working in an AI or ML product development or engineering role or function with a Bachelor's degree; or 4+ years of experience working in an AI or ML product development or engineering role with advanced degreeHands on experience working in big data environments such as Hadoop, Spark, SageMaker, or Databricks and using Python, R, SQL or comparable languages for manipulating and analyzing complex clickstream and or unstructured data and/or implementing data science pipelines Other QualificationsIn depth understanding of Data Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, and/or Machine Learning methods and concepts including algorithm development and evaluationFamiliarity with Corporate Governance, Risk Management or policy development Familiarity with, or strong interest in, AI Ethics and Responsible AI concepts such as fairness, transparency, human oversight, etc. Familiarity with AI policy and the shifting legal landscape is a plus.Demonstrated experience organizing and leading cross-functional teams to achieve project goalsExcellent critical thinking and collaboration skillsRespect for different perspectives with ability to communicate clearly about technical concepts and business implicationsDesire to not make the perfect the enemy of the goodGrowth mindset and drive to learn with an inclination to get things doneCan-do attitude, patience when needed, and a good sense of humor! Workday pay ranges vary based on work location.
