We operate in over 30 countries and generate most of our earnings outside the US. As we expand globally, we encounter complex foreign currency markets and seek scalable solutions for cash flow predictability, earnings protection, and reducing equity risk. To manage this risk effectively, we utilize FX derivatives.Our growth, fueled by both organic expansion and M&A, along with the capital-intensive nature of our business, and our REIT structure and dividend commitments, demands frequent debt and equity funding. Given our exposure to interest rate risk, we utilize interest rate derivatives to mitigate it.In this role, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end derivative hedge accounting processes and the month-end close process. You will be given the opportunity to problem solve and drive process improvements to support Equinix’s growth.The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with expertise in derivative hedge accounting and with experience working in a multinational organization. The candidate will have a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and presentation. This position collaborates with Accounting, Corporate FP&A, Tax, and other business units.ResponsibilitiesManage hedge accounting activities, including the documentation of hedge relationships, effectiveness testing, and ongoing assessmentsPerform month-end close procedures including valuation of derivative instruments, preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and other duties as necessaryCollaborate in the preparation and review of the company’s 10-Q and 10-K filings, ensuring accuracy and comprehensive disclosure of the impact of derivative hedge transactions on the company’s financial performanceEnsure compliance with U.S. GAAP as well as internal and external controlsFulfill internal and external audit requestsQualificationsHighly collaborative temperament with superb attention to detail and proven communication skillsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
