Much of the internet that you know flows through our rapid interconnected network and data centers. Our Equinix Internet Exchange is the world's largest Internet Exchange while our Equinix Fabric has the largest marketshare in Software Defined Interconnection. Our team is building Equinix's next generation networking and multi-cloud networking platforms which enable all of Equinix's Digital Interconnection services.We are looking for an experienced Senior Software / DevOps Engineer to help us build and operate a highly scalable, available, and distributed network orchestration software stack.Responsibilities:Actively participate in the design, development and operation of next-generation network orchestration stackProvide technical guidance and collaborate with stakeholders to develop target network software and architecturesFacilitate cross-stakeholder discussions to ensure alignment on network software requirements and design trade-offs, while considering performance, scalability, and reliability factorsContribute to next-generation networking software proof of concept projects in close collaboration with partners (e.g Office of the CTO) to deliver tangible outcomes that guide new technology investments and implementation decisions for network technology stack evaluationAct as a key technical liaison internally and externally, engaging with customers, partners, forums and open source developer communities to gather insights, share expertise, and stay informed about industry trends and advancementsParticipate in an on-call rotation (roughly two weeks per quarter) to support the software services we build in productionFollow a proactive and collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless integration of Network-As-A-Service (NaaS) solutions Qualifications:Recent and proficient experience with Golang (Go), Java with Spring Boot frameworkProficient in data management systems and technologies: PostgreSQL, Apache Kafka, Redis, Neo4J Experience with L2-L3 networking technologies, including EVPN/VXLAN, at datacenter scale or cloud scaleExperience in working with network management protocols: gRPC, NetconfSolid understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and their applications Strong experience in building & operating highly reliable distributed systems Strong understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies: Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher, or other open-source alternativesProficient in using continuous integration and continuous deployment technologies: Jenkins, Github Actions, ArgoCDHands-on experience with distributed tracing technologies and service mesh implementations: Jaeger, Istio, or other open-source alternativesFamiliarity with monitoring and logging technologies: Prometheus, Grafana, and SplunkExcellent problem-solving and analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve distributed system issuesStrong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey findings, recommendations, and technical details to various stakeholdersKnowledge of open-source networking technologies like SONiC and OpenFlow, as well as their integration through Kafka/REST APIs is a plus Equinix is committed to ensuring that our employment process is open to all individuals, including those with a disability. If you are a qualified candidate and need assistance or an accommodation, please let us know by completing this form.Equinix is an Equal Employment Opportunity and, in the U.S., an Affirmative Action employer. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.This position may be offered in other locations.
