Leads small scale projects and the roll out of engineering initiatives. Assists with the development of engineering design standards, policies and procedures. Effectively interacts with other internal and external teams, including the design engineering, site engineering, construction management and regional operations teams, onsite support vendors and consultants on projects, policies and procedures. Assists in planning and directing day to day operations and strategic direction of delivery of either a construction project or delivery of operations for an IBX facility.ResponsibilitiesProject ManagementAssists in leading and managing projects or other design and engineering initiativesProvides project leadership in ensuring projects or other design and engineering initiatives are meeting or exceeding company expectationsSystem Operation and Work Practices (incl Capacity Planning)Performs complex maintenance and repairs on engineering systems, and develops SOWs for complex engineering system maintenance, replacement, design and construction projects· Ability to apply knowledge of Equinix processes and procedures to resolve non-routine issues· Utilizes safe working practices at an EXPERT level (e.g. can apply procedure for lockout/tag out, can explain MSDS, etc.)· Evaluates and assures the safe working practices of others· Works with the capacity and site engineering teams to identify power and cooling limitations, discuss potential modifications and develop solutions to overcome limitationsTrainingShadows manager in the training and development of new staffAcquires knowledge by expanding experience with systems, vendor training and shadowing othersIs SME with some systems and trains others inside and outside of the groupContract AdministrationExecutes effective contract administration procedures including generation, review, and monitoring of contracts, change orders, cost forecasts, and other pertinent documents and documentationLeadership and Communications Supports in mentoring junior team membersSupports in directing all internal and external project team membersAssists in directing as many as external vendors per project or initiatives such General Contractors, A&E design teams, commissioning agents, equipment suppliers, etc.Expert level communication to include cross functional SOP development and relevant technical writingInteractions are primarily to exchange information between departments within the organizationMay include executive level communications in standardized templatesPolicy & Procedure Development and AdherenceProvides feedback on policies and procedures· Participates in review of policy and procedure documents· Assures adherence to developed standards and policy through review of documentation, participation in commissioning activities, design summits and IBX physicalsProblem SolvingConsistently solves complex, cross-functional issues requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolveMakes recommendations for system level enhancements to eliminate potential problemsTests suitability of components or action plans for deploymentsTechnical ExpertiseHas an expert level system knowledgeIs a subject matter expert to others in the groupParticipates by presenting at internal and/or external engineering or construction related seminars/conferencesData show that many applicants apply for a job when they have 100% of what is required.
