You will be a part of small but growing team, and your responsibilities will initially be quite diverse as we structure our global program and long-term strategy. In time, you will serve as the lead for European renewable energy which will include sourcing projects, conducting financial analysis, negotiating PPAs (or other offtake agreements), facilitating internal stakeholder approvals and managing relationships with European leadership and industry partners. Given the European market opportunity and strategic importance of local renewables, this candidate must have at least 5 years of experience negotiating and executing utility-scale wind and solar PPAs preferably with a developer, advisor or corporate buyer. The renewable energy team is global in nature which entails heavy collaboration with stakeholders and consultants across various countries and time zones. This may require early morning or evening zoom calls, but the expectation is that you’ll always maintain a healthy and sustainable work-life balance. We’re currently considering both remote candidates or those wishing to work from one of European offices. Travel will be occasional (20-30% of the time) and domestic and international. ResponsibilitiesDay-to-day program and project management of European renewable energy workstreams across areas such as virtual PPAs, physical PPAs, financial risk mitigation products, Guarantee of Origin procurement and asset managementNegotiate complex and high-value renewable energy agreements (PPAs) with the support of internal and external counsel and stakeholdersManage consultant relationships and coordinate with key internal stakeholders (accounting, treasury, finance, legal) for opportunity buy-in and approvalServe as local contact and lead for all European renewable energy matters requiring regular meetings with local leadershipSupport renewable energy and cleantech reporting, requiring heavy collaboration with Equinix’s Sustainability Program Office (SPO)Develop marketing material and presentations for distribution to internal sales teams, executive leadership, and customersMonitor and track relevant corporate guidance such as that developed by CDP, RE100, WRI or SBTi to ensure procurement efforts align with best practicesQualificationsRequired: Proven years of experience preferred in negotiating and executing utility-scale wind and solar PPAsDeep knowledge of the European energy market with particular focus on factors that influence and shape corporate renewable energy procurementExperience negotiating complex agreements with the support of internal and external legal counsel and commercial teamsUnderstanding of environmental commodity markets (GOs, RECs, I-RECs, etc.) and application for corporate renewable energy reportingExperience navigating and communicating corporate reporting guidance such as WRI’s scope 2 protocol, CDP, RE100 and SBTiProven track record developing presentation material for senior leadership and obtaining approvals from C-suiteEquinix is committed to ensuring that our employment process is open to all individuals, including those with a disability.
