This position is responsible for the Engineering, Design, and Turnup of Calix Systems using industry network best practices. Your technical leadership and guidance will help enable our communications service providers to deliver world class broadband access to their customers. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, experience in network design, and can provide top notch solutions to our customers.Responsibilities Execute and lead complex customer-facing and high-profile projectsResearch, engineer, diagram, and document new and existing Calix networks according to specified design criteria, creating layer 1-3 diagrams in Visio and determining configuration parameters to support customer requirementsLeverage subject matter expertise on Calix equipment to provision Calix networks, including some third-party networking and telecom equipment, using a mix of provisioning tools.Update/maintain existing script generatorsTrain and oversee junior engineers as neededProvide support to field teams as they turn-up and test networksDetermine, document, sequence and communicate specific network implementation steps to support successful network deploymentsRaise design issues and assist in determining solutionsAuthor detailed Methods of Procedure (MOPs)Obtain and maintain technical training and Calix certificationsPerform nighttime maintenance windows for upgrades and/or migrationsApproximate travel is 5%QualificationsMinimum 8 years’ experience working with telecommunications networks, including Gigabit Ethernet, IP, SIP, FTTx (GPON, XGS-PON, NG-PON), ATM, xDSL, T1/T3 or GR-303 Working knowledge of the Calix product portfolio or similar telecom equipment/technologies strongly desiredStrong interpersonal skills, understanding of customer goals and use cases, possessing the ability to translate those into network solutions to be executedResourceful disposition, able to work independently while driving customer adoption and experienceA proven track record providing a high level of engineering, technical or project support with the proven ability to mitigate risk and escalate appropriatelyExcellent analysis, problem-solving and organization skillsAbility to handle objections effectively and build strong relationships with internal stakeholdersTop-notch written and verbal communication skillsProficient with Microsoft VisioCisco CCNA or higher certification a plusBS/MS EE, CS, or equivalentLocationRemote USA/Canada #LI-Remote
