Calix provides the cloud, software platforms, systems and services required for communications service providers to simplify their businesses, excite their subscribers and grow their value.Calix is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer to develop, test and maintain hardware for next generation Ethernet-based access products. This job will be based in the Calix Petaluma office.Responsibilities:Provide technical leadership for the hardware design effort from conception to production for high speed PCBA designsParticipate in cross-functional team meetings to define system/hardware architectures and requirementsParticipate in creation and approval of project plan, including schedules, requirements, specifications, and test verification & system integration plansProvide technical expertise and leadership to both internal and external partner development teamsPerform and Lead Design Reviews, Test Plan reviews and Test Result reviewsWork with other cross functional organizations to bring designs from prototype to productionInterface with Operations and Supply Chain teams to qualify additional component sourcesPerform routine reviews and updates to existing Production designs, with focus on overall BOM health and design improvements/enhancementsQualifications:Minimum 1 year Hardware PCBA design experience (or equivalent educational background)High-speed PCBA experience, in addition to a breadth of knowledge in other areas of hardware design such as:Point of Load power convertersDDR3/DDR4/DDR5 interface designCPU/Microcontroller subsystem designPCIe interface designI2C/PM Bus designWorking knowledge of signal integrity theory, including the use of Hyperlynx and H-Spice simulation toolsKnowledgeable about high-speed PCB layout techniquesUnderstanding of static timing analysisGood trouble shooting skills for high-speed digital systemExcellent verbal and written communication skillsBSEE required, MSEE preferredExperience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:Scripting languages, such as PythonTelecom/datacom hardware designHigh speed 10/25G serdes design experiencePCBA Stackup DefinitionPower distribution system analysis and designAnalog circuit designFamiliar with Mentor Graphics Expedition schematic capture and layout tools
