Calix is seeking a skilled Systems Administrator specializing in Linux Operating systems to join their high-performing Product Operations and Engineering team. This team provides infrastructure services for the development of next-generation networking and SaaS products. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in Linux administration, virtualization, IT Service management, DevOps, Agile Methodology, Product Development lifecycle, and best practices.The Sr. Systems Administrator – Product Engineering Infrastructure should have 7-10 years of experience. In this role, you will closely collaborate with software development and product teams to deliver and support Linux systems on premises and in the cloud. You will ensure the availability, security, and prompt delivery of systems to customers. Additionally, you will improve services by suggesting upgrades, patching strategies, process enhancements, and service level agreements. Successful candidates will have a technical background, be detail-driven, and possess excellent problem-solving abilities. You should be passionate about delivering reliable solutions and contributing to high-performance teams through standards-based approaches, customer service mindset, and ITIL best practices.Responsibilities: Administration of operating systems, primarily Ubuntu Linux. Others including RedHat/CentOS/SUSE and some Windows.Administration of core technologies including converged infrastructure, storage systems, server hardware, networking, and virtualization technologies.Managing work queue through request and incident tickets.Participate with critical incident response activities, including investigation, and resolution.Documentation of systems, including but not limited to configuration management and support processes.Collaborate with internal personnel at all levels of the organization.Document requirements from stakeholders and translate to actionable tasks.Collaborate with external partners and vendors.Work with vendors to stay informed on the latest technologies.Participate in vendor performance reviews (systems health checks, best practice, solutions development).Develop metrics, track, and proactively improve productivity of the team.Required Qualification & Skills7-10 years of experience in IT or related systems administration role.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Strong interpersonal skill.Strong organization skills.Ability to evaluate and prioritize tasks in an evolving environment.Ability to work independently.Familiarity with business process and policies.Ability to analyze data and recommend solutions that balance risk to business with no need for service interruptions.Ability to show root cause of an issue.Availability for off hours meetings to support offshore teams.Minimum 4-year degree or similar technical training.Occasional travel as required.Desired Skills:Certification in Linux administration.IP networking, IP6 and IP4, virtual networking (VLANs, Subnets, Routing, DNS, MAC Filtering).Experience in supporting fully virtualized environments using VMWare, public cloud, and other hypervisors.Automation technologies and scripting (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Bash, Perl, Python, etc.).Containers, Docker, Kubernetes.IT service management, ITIL methodology.Server class hardware support.Converged infrastructure.SAN/NAS storage management.Backup technologies and process (Veritas, Rubrik).User identity, access, authorization (Active Directory, LDAP, NIS).Software development methods (Agile /Lean Agile, Scrum).
