Fleet Maintenance TechnicianStatus: Hourly (Non-Exempt)Shifts: 8am-5pm, M-FLocation: Charleston, TN w/ travel to other plantsPosition Summary This position is responsible for coordinating installation, troubleshooting, repair, and general maintenance for trailers, tractors, and other transportation assets. This role requires excellent mechanical aptitude and a high degree of familiarity with over the road class A equipment. This role requires the ability to be on-call and to respond to urgent needs so that the plant can deploy assets around the clock. The ideal candidate should have the ability to communicate effectively among cross-functional departments and resolve mechanical defects based upon field experience and data. Core Duties and Responsibilities Diagnose problems and troubleshoot to solidify solutions via internal repair or via coordinating repair with approved 3rd party service providers.Responsible for developing and overseeing the preventative maintenance program for tractors and trailers thereby ensuring reliability and asset uptime.Order parts where necessary to perform maintenance on assets.Monitor equipment performance on an ongoing basis while recommending service/enhancements and working to implement enhancements to maximize performance and reliability.Continually engage with dispatchers and drivers to solicit their input as related to the performance of assets; address any concerns and utilize feedback to maximize uptime.Interact with internal customers and external vendors while maintaining a customer service focus at all times.Be prepared to respond as needed to all field equipment repair needs and maintenance concerns in an urgent manner which may include travel on short notice to equipment sites.Ensure tractors are equipped with proper tools/parts for the job.Possess and maintain a valid CDL for the movement of assets and for flexibility in emergency situations.Notify management of any potential equipment issues or other noted abnormalities.Maintain organization of Maintenance Repair Area and any other area where repair work is in progress.Checks new assets to ensure conformance with specifications.Schedules routine PM’s, 1 year, and 5 year requirements with tractors/trailers.Represent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactions.Flexibility to travel to other Plug Power sites to provide support where needed.Perform all other duties as assigned and required within role.Education and Experience Associates degree in automotive technology/repair or other relevant field of study required or high school diploma along with three (3) + years of relevant work experience.Experience in light or heavy-duty automotive and diesel equipment repair and maintenance work.CDL RequiredMust have appropriate certifications to work on diesel tractors and hydrogen tankers.Must be able to operate independently with minimal supervision while achieving high quality results in work assignments.Superior communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to diagnose system failures and isolate root cause.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Supreme analytical abilities and data analysis skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.Role model for high standards of professionalism.Results-oriented and driven work style.Excellent task-oriented follow.Pay Rate:$22.12 - $31.68We offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below:✓ Base salary is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
