Status: Exempt (salaried) Department: Plant Concept DevelopmentPosition SummaryPlug will become one of the major players in the European Green Hydrogen market, including as owner and operator of green hydrogen production plants. Its flagship Chymia project in the Port of Antwerp will feature up to 35 tons per day of green hydrogen production including Europe’s first green hydrogen liquefier. In addition, Plug has unveiled plans to develop several projects in Finland with a total installed electrolyzer capacity of 2.2 GigaWatt, producing green hydrogen, green ammonia and green DRI (Direct Reduction Iron). These plants will deploy Plug’s own electrolyzer and hydrogen liquefaction technologies as well as partner technologies. The Project Development Manager is responsible for structuring and leading the overall project development of Plug owned and operated green hydrogen plants, from Feasibility phase to FEED phase (handover to Project Delivery team). In this role you will manage complex projects that bring together renewable energy, water treatment, hydrogen production and liquefaction technology, downstream hydrogen applications (PtoX) and hydrogen transport logistics. Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesDefines the scope, budget and schedule of Feasibility, Conceptual Design and Basic Design phases together with relevant project stakeholders and delivers the defined deliverables within schedule and budget. Is able to translate project goals and drivers into specific project and engineering deliverables and organize, structure and plan the project development and engineering process. Is a “jack of all trades” and has sufficient understanding to liaise with colleagues, project owners, project partners and engineering contractors on relevant disciplines such as Process, Lay-out, Electrical and Project Controls, yet also understands when to involve discipline engineers. Develops the project’s master schedule and budget (Supported by estimators / project controls) Develops the project’s execution model with the assigned Project Manager from the Project Delivery team Selects, manages, and directs third party consultants and contractors including engineering contractors and permitting consultants. Represents Plug towards authorities on technical matters of the project. Represent Plug Power in industry advocacy groups.Remain abreast of hydrogen and renewable energy technologies and policies impacting the future competitiveness of green hydrogen development.Education and ExperienceHas a minimum of 10 years of project engineering management experience of large (100+MEUR) CAPEX projects, for example in the renewables, refining, oil and gas, industrial gases or chemical industries. Has expert knowledge about design codes & standards. Is interested in pioneering in a rapidly developing industry and is self-driven, intrinsically motivated and committed to enabling the clean energy transition. Understanding of the hydrogen economy and the relationship between hydrogen and renewable energy in green hydrogen project development.Superior verbal and written communication skills and high level of attention to detail with the ability to present to a wide range of audiences, including project development partners, landowners, government officials, and corporate leaders.Is a team player.
