Status: Exempt (salaried) Department: Plant Concept Development Position Summary Plug will become one of the major players in the European Green Hydrogen market, including as owner and operator of green hydrogen production plants. Its flagship Chymia project in the Port of Antwerp will feature up to 35 tons per day of green hydrogen production including Europe’s first green hydrogen liquefier. In addition, Plug has unveiled plans to develop several projects in Finland with a total installed electrolyzer capacity of 2.2 GigaWatt, producing green hydrogen, green ammonia and green DRI (Direct Reduction Iron). These plants will deploy Plug’s own electrolyzer and hydrogen liquefaction technologies as well as partner technologies. The Concept Development team works closely with the Business Development team, located in Paris, to develop a project architecture for Plug owned and operated plants. This includes project phasing, timeline and execution model and develops the plant design from a high-level overall plant concept to more defined basic design. In this the Concept Development team collaborates with external project partners, contractors and consultants. Once a project has matured towards FEED phase the project is handed over to the Project Delivery team for execution. For this Concept Development team, Plug is looking for an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer. The Principal Electrical Engineer will lead the development and design of electrical aspects of its Green Hydrogen Plants. Core Duties and Responsibilities Develops electrical system architecture, electrical system requirements, electrical schematics, harness drawings, single line drawings, and field wiring diagrams; Is familiar with Grid Operator requirements, grid balancing services etc. and how they influence electrical plant design; Collaborates with the grid operator and suppliers to optimize design and align interfaces with electrical equipment and systems; Is well-versed with (International) Codes & Standards, e.g. CE, IEC, ATEX, EMC and ensures that plant designs complies with applicable electrical codes & standards/legislation;Is able to specify equipment such as: o Electrical substations; o AC/DC Power Converters, Medium Voltage Transformers and Switchgear, Low Voltage Distribution systems; o UPS Systems. Performs or reviews electrical system studies such as load flow, short circuit, harmonics etc. Has an existing network within and understanding of the way of working of Main Electrical Contractors, Electrical OEM’s and Grid Operators. Is able to delegate work to electrical engineers in Plug Netherlands or Plug India. Is able to review engineering deliverables prepared by external engineering contractors. Acts as an electrical design & engineering knowledge base and is able to mentor team members. Develops Engineering processes, way-of-working and standards for hydrogen generation plants;Education and Experience Has at least 10 years of experience as an electrical engineer, preferably in the renewable energy sector. Is interested in pioneering in a rapidly developing industry and is self-driven, intrinsically motivated and committed to enable the clean energy transition. Is a team player. Understands basic applicable engineering codes.Proven teamwork skills.Sound organizational skills for completing tasks as scheduled.Strong communication skills both verbal and written for the purpose of explaining challenges and solutions internally.Good interpersonal skills to successfully interface other engineering disciplines and customer.
