Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) SpecialistStatus: ExemptDepartment: Lafayette ManufacturingPosition SummaryThe Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of the EHS program at Alloy Custom Products. The EHS Specialist will lead efforts that build a strong safety culture and ensure proactive measures are taken to continuously improve the program. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can work independently and is comfortable multitasking in a manufacturing environment. This position requires a high level of interaction with all functions throughout the organization, including both verbal and written communication.Core Duties and Responsibilities5+ years’ experience managing EHS policies, standards, programs, or proceduresPossess tactical and strategic regulatory leadership and direction as well as work well with limited supervision while being responsible for project management, compliance assuranceCoordinate employee safety training program including onboarding, function-specific trainings, and proficiencies as needed for authorized employeesPerform inspections, reporting, sampling, etc to ensure compliance with required business permitsPPE determination and issuance of appropriate PPE to personnelMaintains and updates the Emergency Action Plan for the siteImplement and maintain a chemical approval process, chemical inventory, and SDSs for the siteConducts audits, briefings/meetings, as requiredCommunicates effectively with stakeholders, management, regulators, and other external or third partiesFosters opportunities to improve health and safety, program execution, management and employee expectations and overall value for the company and its employeesIn conjunction with leadership support, enforce policies equally and fairly across the organizationSupport sustainability/corporate social responsibility efforts across the organizationPerform other duties as assignedExempt employees are expected to work as many hours as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities.  This may require they work more than eight hours a day and more than five days or 40 hours per week.  Education and Experience5+ years of experienceEHS certification, an equivalent degree in a field relevant to the responsibilities or documented experience within EHSAdditional SkillsAble to interpret regulations and implement requirements in the work environmentKnowledge and broad background with safety and health programsAbility to analyze information, develop and deliver training programs, adapts policies, create reporting and proven progressive experience to offer recommendations for continuous improvementProven skill set with a variety of computer and software programs including: PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook and others.Capability to present information effectively to diverse audiences and stakeholders while responding to questions from groups of managers, employees and the leadership teamProven leadership, teamwork and flexibility to manage changes in projects and prioritiesAbility to write reports and procedural manualsSuperior communication skillsAbility to manage complex projects and multi-task effectivelyExcellent follow-throughPay Rate:$52,250.00 - $78,375.00We offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below:✓Base salary is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
