Manager, Controls EngineeringStatus: Exempt (salaried)                                                                  Department: ElectrolyzersLocation: Latham, NYThe Manager, Controls Engineering is responsible for defining critical PLC, HMI, and network components as well as developing the operating programs for Plug Power’s product line of PEM electrolysis-based hydrogen generation systems. The position demands in-depth technical skill in building and operating complex products including high voltage power distribution, low voltage signal wiring, control panel design, PLC & HMI programming across multiple platforms. This role also requires interaction with the process, manufacturing, IT, and service teams to ensure designs meet cross functional requirements as well as all relevant codes and standards. The ideal candidate should exhibit exceptional communication, project management, and leadership skills. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, able to handle multiple project assignments and willing to learn and adapt within a fast-paced organization. Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesLead a structured, interdisciplinary approach for product development including requirements capture, traceability, tradeoffs, architecture selection, system design, hazard analysis and verification testing to ensure products meet key Quality, Cost and Performance metrics.Ownership over quality and documentation of engineering work product including EIDs, component specifications, FAT tests, SAT tests, PLC programs, HMI programs, and data acquisition programsDevelop and maintain metrics for key product attributes including performance, cost and compliance to codes and standardsIndependently anticipate design or schedule risks and initiate plans for alternative actions as needed; able to rearrange competing priorities to ensure all deadlines are metHold design reviews throughout the development processCross-functionally communicate between departments to ensure all parties involved are informed and up to date on design effortsProvide ongoing communication and updates to senior leadership regarding development progress and escalate priority issues so that obstacles can be clearedHire and provide ongoing training to a direct team, acting as a resource and mentor for technical guidanceWork professionally and cooperatively in a cross-functional team environment with a focus upon maximizing system performance and customer satisfactionRepresent Plug Power in a professional manner in all interactionsPerform all other duties as assignedExempt employees are expected to work as many hours as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities. This may require they work more than eight hours a day and more than five days or 40 hours per weekEducation and ExperienceMinimum of Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other related fieldMinimum of ten (10) years relevant controls/automation engineering experience in product development, project executions, or plant maintenanceMinimum five (5) years of direct supervisory experienceExperience developing electrical & network layouts and working with electrical equipment such as transformers, rectifiers, switchgear, VFDs, motors, instrumentation, and panels Required PLC & HMI & historian programming experience [Schneider platform preferred]Experience in any of the following is preferred and highly valued:Hydrogen and/or fuel cellsOil and Gas, CNG, LNG, etc.Nuclear powerWater treatmentGas processing equipmentAbility to travel occasionally, up to 15% of the timeComputer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project and OutlookStrong verbal and written communication skillsExceptional organizational skillsDynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholdersUncompromising dedication to quality & safetyDemonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detailAbility to manage complex projects and multi-task effectivelyAbility to role model high standards of professionalismExcellent follow-throughMust be driven and self-motivatedPay Rate:$86,815.00 - $138,904.00We offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below:✓Base salary is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
