Sr. Drafting TechnicianStatus: Hourly (Non-Exempt)Department: 00709 Applied Cryo Tech Engineering**This role is Onsite at our facility near Hobby Airport**Position Summary The Sr. Drafting Technician will support the design and development of cryogenic storage and transportation equipment to meet functional, certification and cost requirements at Plug Cryo Technologies. This position requires strength in the areas of Computer-Aided Design (CAD), hands-on production support and teamwork. The Sr. Drafting technician role requires close interaction with the other engineering team members ensuring efforts are efficiently coordinated. The role also requires collaboration with the supply chain, quality, manufacturing, and service teams to ensure designs meet cross-functional requirements. The ideal candidate should be creative, self-motivated, able to handle multiple project assignments and willing to learn and adapt within a fast-paced engineering organization. This is On-Site position requiring candidates to work in a manufacturing environment.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerforms technical and design drafting assignments. Application of fundamental engineering and advanced CAD drafting skills required to formulate and prepare complex and detailed engineering drawings associated with the construction, modification and maintenance of projects and facilities.Utilizes CAD drafting skills to prepare drawings from rough sketches, notes, marked-up prints, written/verbal instructions, and calculations.Build and maintain knowledge regarding Plug Cryo Technologies’ including current design specifications and constraintsUse Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD to create accurate, complete, and concise engineering documentation from large system assembly models and detailed part drawings, requiring minimal guidance from other drafting technicians.Coordinate and lead design changes with multidisciplinary production teamsCreate detailed drawings to ASME 14.5M-2009 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing specificationsOn-time delivery of all assigned tasks is crucial for performance of the candidate, team and company.Works closely with production and parts fabrication to resolve any issues that may arise on the shop floorTroubleshoot design failures and identify solutions to improve product designLead design changes through the enterprise change processRepresent Plug Power in a professional manner in all interactions; support the philosophy of the organization to provide high-performing technology to maximize customer satisfactionPerform all other duties as assigned and required within roleEducation and ExperienceBachelor’s or Associates degree in design/drafting 3- 5 years of related work history preferably within a technology product manufacturing environmentHighly experienced with 2D/3D CAD software; Autodesk Inventor/AutoCAD Experience with a structured Engineering Change Process;Working in a manufacturing environment experience is a plusExperience with automotive applications is desirableProficient in Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
