Sr. Process Engineer, HydrogenStatus: Exempt (salaried)Department: HydrogenPosition SummaryThe Senior Process Engineer, Hydrogen is responsible for leading Plug Power’s development, operation, and continual improvement of hydrogen fueling infrastructure at both customer-and company-owned locations. They will primarily work within the Plug Power Hydrogen System organization, including the mechanical, control, electrical, service, and fabrication teams, as well as external vendors’ engineering staffs, to deliver world-class hydrogen fueling systems.The ideal candidate should possess a background in chemical or mechanical engineering, with a focus on process engineering and controls. They must be willing to travel to deployment locations when required to assist in unique commissioning or complex troubleshooting efforts; up to 10% of the time.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop and lead projects for new and retrofit applications, equipment cost reduction, and performance and efficiency improvements.Create and maintain steady-state and dynamic process simulationsDevelop and maintain controls strategies.Conduct engineering studies, including assessing tradeoffs and system operability and flexibility; prepare and present results to key stakeholders.Develop and maintain documentation such as systems requirements, line lists, , and alarm lists.Develop and maintain Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).Participate in Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) assessments.Develop, track, and execute system and subsystem test plans.Provide technical support for process/mechanical/instrumentation issues with fielded infrastructure.Provide, support and/or create DVP&Rs (Design Verification Plan & Report), DPPs (Design Project Plan), ECRs (Engineering Change Request), ECOs (Engineering Change Order) and SWOs (Work orders).Provide technical support during procurement, contracting, construction and commissioning activities to ensure project deliverables meet project requirements on time and within budget.Provide leadership, technical guidance, and mentoring to strengthen the discipline, quality, reliability of Plug Power products.Act as a Subject Matter Expert for hydrogen processing, compression, storage, and dispensing systems.Represent Plug Power in a professional manner in all interactions; support the philosophy of the organization to provide high-performing technology to maximize customer satisfaction.Perform all other duties as assigned and required within role.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering with a focus on process engineering; a Master’s degree is preferred. Other relevant technical fields of study will be considered for candidates with a demonstrated proficiency in process engineering.10+ years of related experience including a strong track record of leading product development programs and product launches.Must have experience with process modeling, including dynamic process simulation Unisim, ChemCAD or similar.Experience with simulation tools such as MATLAB is desired, but not required.Experience in the following spheres of activity is highly valued:High pressure gases and components.Gas processing and / or dispensing equipment.Cryogenic fluids and components.Developing Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPs).Control theory and its application to chemical processes.Knowledge of NFPA 2 is desirable.A P.E. license is preferred, but not required.Exceptional data analysis and presentation skillsDemonstrates an aptitude for systems thinking, an ability to assess tradeoffs, and can effectively assess risk and optimize results.Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively.Ability to travel occasionally; up to 10% of the time.Dynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders at all levels.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Must possess the highest ethical standards and a commitment to work quality.Teamwork oriented and focused.Must be self-motivated.Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OutlookPay Rate:$75,240.00 - $112,860.00We offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below:✓Base salary is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
