We offer a culture that is ideally suited to people who enjoy the focus, collaboration, and discipline required to shape innovative technologies into real-world products.  The Test Engineer plays a critical role in the Stationary Engineering Team by testing and evaluating state of the art Fuel Cell Systems both in the lab and in the field. The Engineer will create and execute design verification and product validation plans. The Engineer will work closely with the Design team and Systems’ team to understand and shape sub system requirements. The ideal candidate must be highly motivated to solve complex technical problems, possess the relevant technical experience along with an ability to collaborate on multiple projects simultaneously, develop cross-functional business partnerships and must be an excellent communicator. Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop test plans and test protocols to for Fuel Cell power generators including inverters, converters, high-capacity batteries, transformers, and related equipment.Perform characterization of various parameters of various Fuel Cell components and systems, conduct parameter sensitivity testing, define optimal running conditions in response to system boundary conditions.Conduct durability (accelerated stress) tests on Fuel Cell equipment, identify failure modes and diagnostic parameters. Conduct shock and vibration tests, environmental tests like thermal cycling, freeze – thaw tests, tests to prove safety and certification of product.Understand critical technology performance specifications and common field performance defects; design protocol to test those specific items.Continuously improve data analysis procedures, testing systems and protocol, test equipment, test setups and instrumentation.Participate or lead in creating and executing design verification and product validation plans.Document and analyze failures using techniques like 8D, root cause analysis, statistics, and other advanced techniques in materials science with the help of experts.Interface with Systems Engineering in identifying and creating sub systems requirements from a performance perspective.Manage multiple tasks with a focus on delivering high quality results in a timely fashion.Travel to customer locations, vendors, and suppliers to perform technical functions including repair and troubleshooting as required.Always represent Plug Power with the highest professional and ethical standards and in all interactions.Perform other duties as assigned.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in an Engineering or equivalent technical field.1 to 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably within a technology manufacturing environment. Experience in developing and testing electrical components used in power supplies such as converters, inverters, transformers, energy storage products like batteries, capacitors, and/or similar products is highly preferred.High proficiency in data analysis using excel.Knowledge of various instrumentation hardware used for electrical testing.Exceptional data analysis and presentation skills.Knowledge of MATLAB, VBA, or similar software to analyze data and create models is preferred.Strong hands-on experience working in a lab and test environment and familiar with various testing equipment and tools.Previous experience in testing product for certification and compliance to SAE and ISO standards a plus.Ability to travel as needed to carry out duties of the position up to 25%.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and stakeholders at all levels.Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively.Demonstrated analytical skills, and attention to detail.Excellent follow-through.Must be driven and self-motivated.Must possess the highest ethical standards and a commitment to work quality.Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office software.Pay Rate:$62,700.00 - $94,050.00We offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below:✓Base salary is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
