You'll conceptualize and deliver complex mechanical structures and systems and your technical duties include the design and development of new products and processes throughout the product lifecycle.Sierra Space—based in Louisville, CO with operations in Madison, WI, Durham, NC, Huntsville, AL, Houston, TX, and Kennedy Space Center, FL—designs and manufactures the Dream Chaser spaceplane and other advanced spacecraft, commercial space destinations, satellites, propulsion and environmental systems, spacecraft subsystems and components for the U.S. government (including NASA), commercial customers, and international organizations. Learn more about Sierra Space Primary Responsibilities•    Responsible for leading and training less experienced analysts•    Responsible for reviewing structural analysis•    Responsible for structural analysis of complex assemblies and applications•    Contribute to methods development and continuous improvementMust-haves:•    Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related discipline and typically 10 or more years of relevant experience•    Relevant work experience may substitute for required education•    High level of proficiency in at least one commercial Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tool, preferably Nastran or ANSYS•    Ability to apply engineering principles and practices to solve complex or novel engineering problems•    Comfort working in multi-disciplinary teams (i.e., with other analysis fields as well as design, test, and manufacturing engineering)Preferred:•   Familiarity with other types of analysis, such as heat transfer or computational fluid dynamics•    Experience with more advanced structural analysis, such as non-linear materials, post-yield behavior, highly thermo-mechanical couped systems, mechanisms, or transient dynamics•    Knowledge of industry-standard mechanical design practices, for assessment of things like threaded fasteners, wiring boards, component life (fatigue), and damage tolerance•    The ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required.
