Infinera is seeking a new grad or an experienced person, with a track record in designing codes and algorithms for soft decision forward error correction (FEC) that can approach channel capacity and at the same time being highly computationally efficient for low-cost implementation. The candidate will be part of a DSP algorithm design team. The application is fiber optic communication systems at net data rates above 100Gbit/sec, and FEC should achieve this high throughput with 10% to 100% overhead (OH). Must have working knowledge in some of the following areas:Binary BCH codes, Reed-Solomon codesTurbo product codes and product-like codes based on component binary BCH codes, such as continuously-interleaved codes, staircase codes, and zipper codes400G ZR FEC, OpenFEC, OpenROADM FEC standardsBinary LDPC codes with optimized regular and irregular degree distributions, possibly spatially-coupledHard-decision and low-complexity soft-decision decoding of the codes aboveEducation and Experience:Masters or Ph.D.3+ years of experience in the relevant areas.Must have done previous MATLAB/C coding in some of these FEC schemes. ASIC and FPGA design experience is not required. However, it is relevant and valuable to have an understanding of ASIC implementation, parallelism, high throughput implementation, fixed point arithmetic, performance-complexity tradeoffs, and have a general understanding in critical timing closure issues in ASIC design.Must be a highly efficient programmer in MATLAB, C, and object-oriented C. Must have strong software skills and efficient debugging of complex and large-scale C codes.Must be able to digest industry standard documentation such as C-FEC and O-FEC and create MATLAB/C codes that implement their encoder and decoder.Must have great inter-personal working skills, and strong independent work ethic, and good communication skills.# LI-JP1Infinera is an equal opportunity employer.
