The engineer will work on numerical and analytical modelling of the performance of next generation technologies, with a clear focus on solution sets that meet our end customer requirements. You will work closely with the core engineering groups that are response for the design and development of Infinera’s next-generation coherent photonic integrated circuits (PICs), analog drive ASICs and Flex Coherent DSP ASICs. Sophisticated simulation platforms guide major design decisions and serve as invaluable feedback to cross-functional design teams and end customers throughout the entire development cycle of Infinera’s next generation optical engines. Key responsibilities and accountabilities: Develop simulation platform to analyze early concepts of next generation coherent pluggable products and sub-components. Engage and collaborate with core subsystem simulation and modelling teams. Through frequent interaction with the relevant design teams, you will assist in design, finding relationships between low level hardware specifications and its system level impact and optimizing performance-critical aspects to maximize overall modem performance. Work with the subsystems solutions architects and PLMs to refine and evolve the definition and performance of next generation products. Presented results at internal technical forums. Present results to end customers. Provide simulation and back-office support to our standards team, in order to support the standardization of next generation MSA compliant optical engines. Specific Job Skills: Fundamental understanding of optical communication systems, DWDM transmission systems, fiber transmission penalties, photonic integrated components, electronic (integrated) circuits, and signal analysis and processing. Experience and a strong mathematical understanding of the analytical and numerical modelling of system-level optical communication systems and components. Extensive understanding of coherent communications systems, including experience with QPSK, 16QAM, and 64QAM, as well as coding and forward error correction algorithms. Experience characterizing high-speed RF and mm-wave interconnects, amplifiers, and components such as S parameter, jitter, ENOB, nonlinear compression and their system implications. Experience in the characterization and modeling of various linear and nonlinear signal impairments, e.g., filtering, noise, nonlinear amplitude and phase distortions, dispersion etc. Programming experience in Matlab, Python, VB.net, or C desired. Education and Experience: PhD. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics or related discipline.#LI-JP1#LI-RemoteInfinera is an equal opportunity employer.
