Search JobsJob DescriptionDuties: Lead the development of cutting-edge, machine learning algorithms to better protect VMware customers from malicious actors and improve the product experience. Help architect and own the platform for deploying and tuning the machine learning models used to protect user authentication and security. Use analytical and statistical methods, programming, data modeling, simulation, and advanced mathematics to analyze petabytes of data, recognizing patterns, identifying opportunities, posing security questions, and making valuable discoveries. Lead the efforts to define the vision of how Data Science and Machine Learning will be used to detect anomalies, assess risks/threat, classify and prioritize security alerts, and group related entities for investigation enhancements. Provide architecture guidance and work closely to up-level the Data Science and ML engineering organization. Work with Data Engineers to design and maintain data processing pipelines to support new decision and scoring models. Evangelize the value of Machine Learning and Data Science to upper management and other engineering teams within the organization. Responsible for hiring and nurturing talent, people management of team members, enabling their career growth, and managing the projects they are working on to enable timely delivery of projects.Requirements: Master’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Statistics, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical/quantitative field and two (2) years of experience in job offered or any occupation in which the required experience was gained.Employer requires at least six (6) of the following skills gained through industry experience:Building software solutions in an engineering environment using C, C++, Python, Java, Perl, Matlab, Shell Scripting, or JavaScript;Data Structures and Algorithms;Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP);Containerized applications, such as Docker or Kubernetes;Virtualization, cloud computing, or storage technologies;Artificial intelligence methodology such as machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, data mining, time series forecasting, or data visualization;Change platform or tools such as Git, Jupyter Notebooks, or similar;Computational statistics including working with statistical packages such as SAS or SPSS.*Telecommuting permitted: work may be performed within normal commuting distance from the VMware office in Palo Alto, CA. The actual offer will be based on the role, location, and individual candidate experience. Bonus, commission, and/or equity may be eligible for this position.
