Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?Within 30 days of your employment, become familiar with the vCenter technology stack which is built on VMware Photon™ Platform, vCenter appliance management which provides core platform capabilities, vCenter development methods, processes, and tools.Within 90 days of your employment, you will be leading and managing the execution of vCenter engineering enhancements and build new software features. Within 180 days, collaborate with product management, engineering architects, and technical leaders to develop a strategy, create engineering roadmap, and execution plans. Drive the platform capabilities incrementally to address customer issues, and new technology integrations, and drive efficiencies using data-driven approaches to make the platform to be more secure, resilient, quality, and highly performant at scale.Expand diverse and inclusive talented team to build innovative availability solutions to support flexible configurations spanning multi-cloud platforms. Within 360 days you will have to build high performing team to manage and operate the growing demands of zero downtime of multi cloud infrastructure platform. The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?Previously demonstrable hands-on experience working with Java/Python/C/C++/go lang and system programming is required. Experience ranges from 10 to 15 Yrs Prioritize the engineering asks from various stakeholders to cater to on-prem and cloud business growth and analyze customer requests. Drive architecture & design solutions with cross-business-unit technical leaders and ensure coverage for scale, performance, supportability and operational aspects of various deployment environments and devise a rationale roadmap. Prepare & review quarterly and sprint plans for the engineering teams and coordinate dependencies to complete the feature Monitor and handle customer escalations diligently with clear short-term and long-term plans Ensure the code quality is maintained with ready-to-ship software anytime and build necessary automated tests with continuous integration pipelines.Encourage and lead thriving engineering team to excel further in solving complex problems for our customers.Domain expertise in building virtualization, storage or networking software is required Exceptional organization skills and attention to engineering details are paramount Excellent communication skills to engage highly technical engineering experts and non-technical members. Manage global teams in hybrid work culture and collaborate effectively Experience in delivering cloud software solutions or infrastructure management software is highly desirable. Agile software development mindset will be very useful for building and delivering software with incremental value. What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?This position reports to the Director of Engineering for the Common Infrastructure and Core Services team as part of the Infrastructure management organization, an experienced software manager, and a thought leader who has many years of engineering and management experience. This team consists of highly competent senior and junior engineers in the areas of virtualization, systems, and storage and networking domains. The team closely work with other geographically distributed vCenter engineering teams.
