Second shift is eligible for a shift differential.This role will support our TruSight Oncology workflow which focuses on aiding physicians in providing improved patient care through targeted therapies with our comprehensive next generation sequencing assay covering a wide range of genes and variants associated with common solid tumors.Responsibilities: Responsible for specimen processing, maintaining quality test performance and for reporting test results.Use of LIMS system to perform sample management, testing worklists, and data reporting.Ensures compliance with all regulatory agency requirements through proper documentation.Selects, implements, and evaluates results for Quality Control (QC) materials used in statistical process control of laboratory assays.Procure and perform quality control testing of reagents, as needed.Troubleshoots assays and equipment for which QC metrics fail to meet criteria.Participates in activities required to support all necessary licensure for the clinical laboratory, including quality management functions and on-site inspections.May be required to participate in audits.May be required to assist in assay development activities.Recognizes, documents, and escalates lab protocol deviations to the laboratory lead or supervisor.Contributes to updating work instructions and operating procedures to accurately reflect practices.Responsible for understanding the scientific methods employed within the laboratory.Requirements: Current California Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or CGMBS license or equivalent is required.Typically requires a bachelor’s degree with 2-5 years’ experience in a clinical laboratory setting.Able to perform high complexity tests in a highly regulated CLIA/CAP environment including analytical and post-analytical processes.Experience performing manual next generation sequencing workflows including manual pipetting with single and multichannel pipettes with the ability to accurately handle volumes as low as 1uL is required[Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties to meet turnaround times and timelines that directly impact patient care.Detail-oriented, conscientious and possesses a strong sense of ownership in one’s work.Requirement to maintain 12-unit hours of continuing education annually.Ability to read, understand, and comply with detailed procedures that ensure the safety of all personnel.Excellent communication and ability to work as part of a cohesive team.Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, and perform instrument maintenance.Follow the laboratory’s established policies and procedures for troubleshooting when test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results. Be capable of correcting the problem(s) or immediately notify the general supervisor.Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.Listed requirements and responsibilities are an essential, but not exhaustive list, of the usual duties associated with the position. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
