This individual will be responsible for working with key Democratic Members of the U.S. House and Senate, left-of-center third party groups, and trade associations on behalf of Illumina. Additionally, this individual will be lead Illumina’s policy analysis within the Government Affairs organization for the U.S., Canada and Latin America. Responsibilities:Engages in the planning process for the organization's policies and objectives involving matters of federal and state government and regulations.Conducts analysis of proposed federal and state legislation as needed to report on potential impacts to the organization.Works with Head of Government Affairs for Americas and Head of Global Government Affairs to establish company positions on federal regulations and communicates positions as needed to key stakeholders.Responsible for identifying, monitoring and influencing government legislation, regulation and public policy with the intent to optimize the business environment and patient access to Illumina solutions.  Coordinate with Head of Government Affairs for Americas to understand areas of responsibility within the U.S. Congress and subsequently educate public policymakers on issues and initiatives of importance to our industry and business.In all interactions, strive to maintain a positive leadership image and business climate for Illumina with federal government policymakers.Utilize Illumina subject matter experts to help educate government policymakers.Work with Government Affairs colleagues to manage major company events and high profile meetings and visits with federal government officials.Effectively represent the company through direct advocacy and participation at the federal government level.​Policy Analysis – Monitor ongoing executive branch rulemaking processes and track/analyze potential legislation. Work with Illumina trade associations and serve on policy related work groups and task forces to ensure that Illumina’s point of view is being considered and included.Advocacy – Communicate directly and persuasively with government officials and staff, as well as both allies and opponents, in the advancement of Illumina public policy priorities. Demonstrate thought leadership and subject matter expertise where business strategic objectives can be advanced through proactive public policy engagement. Develop and seek approval for issue advocacy materials and presentations, testimony for delivery to legislative committees and regulatory bodies, and internal messaging for key contact and employee grassroots and vendor engagement programs.Tracking and Intelligence Gathering – Identify and monitor legislative and regulatory activities for their ripeness and potential impact, and report to internal partners in a timely and precise manner.Industry Associations and Coalitions – Serve on industry task forces and working groups as needed where policy interests are aligned and Illumina leadership can be exerted. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
