Surrounded by extraordinary people, inspiring leaders, and world changing projects, you will do more and become more than you ever thought possible.Position SummaryExciting opportunity to join Illumina’s rapidly growing and cutting-edge Oncology Program Management Office (PMO) team as Product Development Staff Program Manager for a variety of Next Generation Sequencing Clinical/IVD projects.  The PM will manage internal R&D and/or Companion Diagnostic (CDx) new product development projects/programs varying in size and complexity from Concept through Commercialization following lllumina’s Product Development Phase Gate process.  The PM will interface with internal and external partners to achieve project goals, milestones, and timelines.  In addition to the criteria below, the ideal candidate must be a skilled team leader with strong negotiation and influencing skills, be able to work independently, manage multiple projects in parallel, and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.ResponsibilitiesProvides management and leadership skills to drive execution on project goalsCollaborate cross-functionally to create, execute and communicate overall project plans (scope, schedule, resourcing, quality, risk management, budget, and procurement) and revise them appropriately to meet changing project needs and requirementsIdentify needs for changes to plan and communicate them to the team and stakeholders to ensure program goals are in alignment with business objectivesSchedule and lead phase gate reviews with an executive approval committeeIdentify, resolve and escalate program issues, facilitate tradeoff decisions, and remove obstaclesEnsure product development efforts adhere to internal processes and design control standardsContinuously analyze and manage risks to enable successful project completionDefine and optimize project management and development processes, methodologies, and tools to improve organizational efficiency and effectivenessApply best practices and knowledge of internal/external business challenges to improve productsContribute to product development process or PMO functional improvement initiativesExperience\Knowledge RequirementsExperienced in program managing full cross-functional new product development Core Teams as the primary program manager for the project, resulting in the launch of IVD and/or highly complex RUO products/platformsFamiliar with FDA and CE-IVD regulated product development processes and design controls, preferably in Next-Gen Sequencing and/or OncologyFamiliar with Pharmaceutical or CDx development lifecycles and regulatory requirementsExpert at project scheduling of new product development phase gate projects using MS Project, including dependencies and critical path determination and optimizationAble to develop project plans, communicate proposals to leadership, and manage scope across the phases of the project.Finance/Business Experience: Experienced in resource planning, resource management, and managing/delivering to project budgets. Ability to lead a project team to meet business commitments, objectives, and support strategic goals.Ability to identify key issues, motivate and empower others to address them in a way which builds morale and generates ownership and commitmentExperienced in applying basic principles of Six Sigma. Recommends best practices to improve products, processes, or services.Familiarity with most topics in the PM Body Of Knowledge (PMBOK)Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner to all levels of the organization and to transparently deliver difficult messagesExperienced in managing projects with external partners or customersFamiliarity with molecular assay development, genetic sequencing principles or sequencing devices, preferredAbility to effectively lead virtual, global teams, and mentor more junior team members Education RequirementsBachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8 years of product development experience with 4 years managing projects, or equivalent. Experience in a regulated industry is desired.PMP certification, preferred#LI-REMOTEThe estimated base salary range for the Staff Program Manager - Product Development (Clinical/CDx) Remote Potential role based in the United States of America is: $124,300 - $186,500. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
