You will work with multi-disciplinary teams to create cutting edge and robust new products and assays for the library prep and next generation sequencing platforms offered by Illumina. You will participate in the development of high-throughput and high-quality assays alongside leading and supporting investigations and product launches.Responsibilities:• Develop new products in fast-paced product development environment. Identify, evaluate, plan, and optimize research ideas leading to new robust assays and chemistries for next generation sequencing based on Illumina’s proprietary technologies.• Explore new technologies and identify creative solutions to overcome current limitations.• Identify new opportunities for innovative products using the company’s core technologies.• Design, implement, analyze and present experiments to demonstrate feasibility of new methods and efficiently move products through pipeline.• Optimize assay conditions to achieve commercial levels of stability, robustness, and performance.• Create scalable infrastructure to support release of developed products.• Be both a strong individual contributor as well as a collaborative team member.  Conduct clear and concise communication with colleagues (cross-functional) and supervisors through oral updates, written reports and technical meetings.Requirements:• >10 years’ industrial experience in a scientific discipline or engineering is required.• Experience with Illumina products, specifically library prep, NGS, and BaseSpace Analysis.• Assay development experience of complex biological systems required.• Knowledge of technology development in a fast-paced biotech environment.• Extremely detail oriented with excellent laboratory and experimental skills and proven collaboration and troubleshooting experience.• Comfortable with Design of Experiment (DOE) methodologies or critical parameter management (CPM)• Strong team player with proven collaboration, innovation, and openness character traits.Preferred Skills & Experience:• Hands on experience in laboratory environments including manual and automated workflows.• Comfortable presenting data, results, statistical analysis.• Product development experience, including reagent development and optimization, integration and testing, transfer to production and documentation.EOE/Minorities/Females/Vet/DisabilityAbout IlluminaIllumina (www.illumina.com) is a leading developer, manufacturer, and marketer of life science tools and integrated systems for the analysis of genetic variation and function. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
