Surrounded by extraordinary people, inspiring leaders, and world changing projects, you will do more and become more than you ever thought possible.Position SummaryThe Associate Director, DevOps Engineering will provide supervisory and technical leadership and business acumen in leading the Identity Management, Automation, Developer Infrastructure, and Process Improvement teams.  The candidate will need to work with technical teams to gather business requirements, identify emerging technologies, and contribute to technology evaluations.   The candidate will apply coaching, technical leadership, and prioritization in support of maintaining the continuity of IT operations as well as innovation and creativity in creating efficiencies and process improvements.This position requires a technically adept individual with strong leadership skills who can work in teams across global boundaries, applying creative thought to solve complex software and infrastructure challenges.   The ideal candidate should demonstrate excellent interpersonal and teambuilding skills, eagerness to learn and grow, ability to coach and mentor both leaders and individual contributors, and have a flexible approach to solving complex problems.  The candidate is required to possess current knowledge of a wide range of current and emerging technologies.  The candidate will need to forecast long-range requirements for multiple platforms with other managers both internal and external to IT.ResponsibilitiesProvide strategic leadership for IAM, Automation, and Developer Infrastructure demands for Illumina as an Enterprise, including but not limited to:Identity and Access ManagementAccess certificationsSoftware DevelopmentAPI GatewayLog AnalysisInternal Microservices​Establish and manage technical teams with focus on business demand from various internal customers such as:Information TechnologyProduct DevelopmentSales and MarketingManufacturingCorporate DevelopmentManage technology enablementVendor management to ensure maintenance and contracts are current and the infrastructure is supportableDevelop and manage existing governance model that enables business units to leverage supported technology offerings securely and effectively.Work with business units to identify opportunities for cost savings or avoidanceDevelop business case and cost/benefit analyses for IT spend and initiatives.Develop, analyze, and execute budgetsProvide leadership for budget preparation, formulation, presentation, and execution.Establish policies to enable and manage targeted budgetsParticipate in the negotiation and administration of vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements.Communicate with cross-functional leaders including IT and Business regarding annual programs and project statuses to enable cost estimation and risk management.Collect and present data for reporting, technical direction, and capacity planning.Provide IT business customers with advice and recommendations including participation in internal development process by proposing suitable and cost-effective solutionsProvide leadership and guidance to achieve and manage Operational ExcellenceEnsure successful daily operations of the production environment through strategic guidance and leadership over multiple technical teamsProvide guidance during service-impacting events. Work with team to provide quick Incident Response, Root Cause Analysis, Incident Review, and follow-up Reporting. Assist in the Research, Design, and Implementation of short and long-range strategiesGeneral responsibilities:Assist the technical and non-technical staff where necessary in the management of custom software solutions, API Gateway, and Container Orchestration environments, including best practices, resiliency strategies, monitoring, and troubleshooting issues/failures. Participate in the development and implementation of IT policies and procedures and standards.Participate in IT strategic and operational planning.On call is required (24/7/365)RequirementsB.S. in Computer Science, IS/IT or equivalent education and experience.Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell).Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).Experience with IAM tools such as  AWS IAM, Saipoint, Okta or Azure ADDemonstrates integrity and is widely trusted.Strong ability to lead and adapt to change.10+ years of related experience8+ years of experience in IT ManagementExperience in a regulated environment such as SOX, FDA a plus.Strong understanding of Change Management.Ability to learn new technologies quickly.  Excellent technical research, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.Proven project management skills required.Excellent written/verbal communications and interpersonal skills.#LI-REMOTEThe estimated base salary range for the Associate Director, DevOps Engineering - IAM & API role based in the United States of America is: $163,900 - $245,900. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
