You will help to conceptualize, develop and optimize assays and processes tomaintain and expand Illumina’s market share in current and emerging markets.Responsibilities• Develop new methodologies and workflows utilizing Illumina’s sequencing technologies.• Design, conduct, analyze, troubleshoot and present experiments to demonstrate feasibility of new methods and efficientlymove products through the pipeline.• Work with cross-disciplinary teams to optimize assay conditions to achieve commercial levels of stability, robustness, andperformance.• Identify creative solutions to problems and actively participate in improving methods.• Take a leadership role on projects and guide technical areas independently.• Work closely with scientific, bioinformatic, engineering, software and commercial teams to develop, integrate, transfer, andsustain products.• Work closely with external collaborators on development projects.• Analyze large complex datasets.• Write reports and present results and project assessments to Senior Management.• Perform other duties as assigned.Listed responsibilities are an essential, but not exhaustive list, of the usual duties associated with the position. Changes toindividual responsibilities may occur due to business needs.Requirements• PhD with 2+ years or 5+ years experience in commercial product development• DNA and/or RNA based genomic assay development• Must be able to design experiments and perform data analysis for others and have demonstrated experience in achieving results with team members in non-biological disciplines• Ability to translate corporate goals into executable plans understanding technical risks, mitigations, and alternatives• Perform equally well as individual contributor, collaborative team member and technical manager depending on project needs• Highly adaptive to changing project scopes and responsibilities• Able to work effectively under pressure to meet scheduled deadlines and handle multiple activities simultaneously• Highly motivated, detailed individual with proven ability to think innovatively toward solving problems effectively and efficiently• Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skillsThe estimated base salary range for the Sr Scientist role based in the United States of America is: $86,500 - $129,700. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
