Surrounded by extraordinary people, inspiring leaders, and world changing projects, you will do more and become more than you ever thought possible.Position Summary:As a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist, you will be working closely with strategic customers in a team environment to enable those organizations to effectively run genomic tests by utilizing cloud infrastructure developed by Illumina.   Those solutions and pipelines will enable the storage, tracking, analysis, variant interpretation and distribution of large genomic datasets and integration of Illumina informatics systems with Illumina or third party software or systems to ultimately contribute to and build infrastructure that can be deployed for large scale genomics in a healthcare environment.  This Bioinformatics Scientist role primarily involves the production and use of analyzed variant call data from oncology pipelines and workflows and ensure the data can be processed through Illumina tools to meet customer end-goals. Tasks and Responsibilities:Collaborate with the customer to take data and output from secondary analysis pipelines and manage the data into Illumina tertiary analysis softwareEnable customer(s) to be able to successfully ingest, and run a tertiary analysis workflow through software reporting toolsCompare variant data produced by pipelines against known standards and truth setsWork in close communication with Illumina R&D teams to help deliver and test solutions, and troubleshoot issues to enable rapid resolution regarding the deployment of the customer methods onto Illumina architecture.Prototype new software/informatics workflows and solutions in concert with the end-user.Feed the needs of the customer back into the Illumina development organizations to drive improvements in product offerings.Handle problem recognition, analysis, resolution, and follow up for complex problems.Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers.Maintain strong channels of communication with customers and internal teamsAll listed tasks and responsibilities are deemed as essential functions to this position; however, business conditions may require reasonable accommodations for additional task and responsibilities.Preferred Educational Background:M.Sc./PhD Degree in Bioinformatics or related discipline and at least 3 years of experience bioinformatics analysis, or 8+ years of relevant experience in Bioinformatics and NGS data analysisPreferred Experience & Skills:Experience with software (preferably commercial software) for the interpretation and reporting of genomic dataStrong understanding of bioinformatics/genomics, sequence analysis or related disciplines.Experience with genomics data analysis in a healthcare or research translational environment, especially in human health applications such as Genetic disease or OncologyExperience with common software toolkits for Next Generation Sequencing analysis or accelerated systems such as DRAGENExperience with scripting languages (e.g. perl, Python), preferably in a Unix/Linux environment.Expert knowledge of at least one major UNIX/Linux platform.Experience with executing pipelines in a cloud environment such as AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud.Experience with software development desired.Ability to work on a team, displaying conflict resolution and critical thinking skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Clear vision of and commitment to providing outstanding customer service.#LI-HYBRID#illuminaproudIllumina believes that everyone has the ability to make an impact, and we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer committed to providing employment opportunity regardless of sex, race, creed, color, gender, religion, marital status, domestic partner status, age, national origin or ancestry, physical or mental disability, medical condition, sexual orientation, pregnancy, military or veteran status, citizenship status, and genetic information.
