This position works with external and internal partners in Operations, Software Development, Assay Integration, and Field Service.All About YouYou see complexity as a challenge, not an impediment. The technology is amazing, but at the end of the day, it’s the outcome to patient that matters. You will leverage the power of our next generation sequencing technologies, and guide development of the next generation of products.In this hands-on role, you will intake root cause design issues, test/troubleshoot instrumentation, identify potential fixes, and provide options for design improvements. Responsibilities As a member of our development group, you will become an expert in Illumina sample preparation instrumentation, providing support for both internal and external customers.  To accomplish this you will take on the following responsibilities:Become an internal expert in the design of Illumina sample preparation instruments.  Own design and maintenance of component subsystems.Drive internal and external teams in resolution of instrumentation issues.Plan and perform hardware/software integration testing, performance characterization, requirements analysis, test design, test execution, defect and customer complaint root cause investigations, and risk and hazard analysis.Execution of tasks independently and with guidance as necessary from project lead or manager.Provide supporting data on risk and recommendations in area of responsibility and at critical interfaces to other teams.Work with suppliers and contract manufacturers to provide feedback.  Develop communication and discussion topics for continuous improvement.Contribute ideas for development, support other functional teams in development efforts.Required QualificationsBS/MS in Engineering (Biomedical, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical) or a BS/MS in a science/technology field and equivalent experience2+ years of experience in product development, medical device, test engineering, field service, equipment engineering or relevant industry experienceEffective interpersonal and communication skills, experience with statistical analysis techniques and packagesExcellent problem solving and analytical skillsComfortable asking questions, raising concerns, and engaging in technical dialog in new and uncharted fieldsDesired QualificationsClinical development and/or manufacturing background is highly desirable (ISO 13485, ISO9001, GXP)Previous experience with Liquid Handlers and associated control software (E.G. Hamilton Venus, Tecan EVOWare, etc) is highly desirableKnowledge and application of fundamental engineering concepts around linear motionPrevious Experience with understanding C#, PythonExperience with Biological Assays, comfortable working in a BSL-2 EnvironmentExperience with NGS Sample Preparation Methods, and NGS SequencingFluent with 3D modeling CAD packages, such as Solidworks, Autocad, or equivalent#LI-ONSITEThe estimated base salary range for the Engineer 2 - Development role based in the United States of America is: $72,000 - $108,000. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
