Surrounded by extraordinary people, inspiring leaders, and world changing projects, you will do more and become more than you ever thought possible.Scientist 1 Job DescriptionWe are looking for an entry level Scientist 1 with a background in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or Bioengineering to contribute to a team within Consumables Development.  As Scientist 1, you will support the development of sequencing consumables and systems based on our proprietary technology.   Candidates should have strong experimental and quantitative skills and desire to work on cross-disciplinary teams.Responsibilities:Plan and execute consumable development experiments to address project deliverablesConduct and analyze sequencing runs to evaluate product qualityAnalyze data from sequencing runs using proprietary Illumina software as well as off-the-shelf programs such as Excel and JMPBuild expertise in core consumables chemistry and process, and in Illumina sequencing technologiesMaintain a lab notebook to track experimental detailsPrepare and present results and conclusions in cross-functional team meetingsCollaborate closely within multidisciplinary teamsApply problem-solving skills to provide useful information and recommendations to cross-functional teamsRequirements: A sound foundation in molecular biology, chemistry, materials science, or a related subjectExperience with data analysis and statistics, and solid computer skillsExperience with conducting biological/ chemical assays and operating laboratory equipmentDemonstrated time management and organizational skillsExcellent communication skills and team playerA desire to be part of a fast-paced, dynamic development environmentMust be passionate about troubleshooting, details, and problem-solvingEducationThe ideal candidate will have a BS or BA or MS degree in the Biological Sciences, Biophysics,  Chemistry, or related disciplines0-2 years of hands-on research experience in a (bio)chemistry/molecular biology lab or in an industry settingThe estimated base salary range for the Scientist 1 role based in the United States of America is: $60,500 - $90,700. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
