Sr. Software Engineer, Inference The Opportunity Firefly is the new family of creative generative AI models coming to Adobe products that offers a new way to ideate, create, and scale content. It’s a natural extension of the technology Adobe has produced over the past 40 years. At the core of Firefly are our commercially safe generative AI models trained on hundreds of millions of images owned or licensed by Adobe. We are hiring for a highly strategic and visible role to help evolve these models and the associated prompt engine. This is an opportunity to reach millions of creatives, helping them reinvent the way they work. What you'll do Design and lead the technical development of the Firefly service and its components Optimize services to address high performance, latency, and load requirements Understand the service requirements and technical constraints of various platforms and come up with solutions to simplify the software stack Develop efficient, reliable, testable services code in a variety of stacks (JVM, Python) Work closely with engineers on the team to guide the development process from requirements and design through development, integration, testing, and deployment Work with other Adobe teams advising on using our technology, investigating bugs, and collaborating on providing new features Regularly review and tune test code to achieve a high standard of software quality, code coverage, and performance metrics Respond to urgent production issues requiring fast resolution and deployment of code fixes/updates Participate in inventing technology that has an enormous impact across Adobe, writing patents, and being an active internal community of software development professionals What you need to succeed Bachelor of Science, or higher degree, in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent 10+ years of experience with JVM (Java Virtual Machine) based languages (Java, Scala) or Python backend / service development Must be well versed with distributed computing principles, proven experience building high scale high performance cloud platforms and services. Extensive experience with CI/CD and an in-depth knowledge of containerization and modern deployment strategies Highly proficient in Java development, tools, and common services patterns Proficient in services frameworks, deployment, and monitoring tools Firm computer science fundamentals, including design patterns, algorithms, asymptotic complexity, parallelism, and database schema design Works well in a small, collaborative, highly productive team environment across multiple geographies Excellent verbal and written communication skills Bonus qualifications Experience with GPU-based ML inference services #FireflyGenAI Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $163,400 -- $302,000 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
