The Manager, Revenue Accounting will be responsible for the accurate accounting, reporting, and analysis of all aspects of revenue. This is a critical role that will also provide leadership on various automation and process enhancement initiatives to meet the demands of the fast-paced and evolving Ad-Tech industry, that The Trade Desk operates within.What you’ll do:The Trade Desk is seeking a Manager, Revenue Accounting to lead the Revenue Accounting team, with a focus on activities related to revenue and reserves. The Manager, Revenue Accounting will learn The Trade Desk platform to apply revenue recognition principles to ensure transactions are recorded efficiently and accurately from a technical accounting and operational perspective.Assist with the oversight of the month-end close process for revenue, including, but not limited to the review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting schedules and disclosures.Own the revenue recognition process to ensure compliance with accounting principles on reserves/allowances, deferred revenue, flux analyses, and related SOX controls.Manage and mentor a team of accountants providing feedback and guidance on revenue recognition treatment in accordance with policies and accounting principles, etc.Actively participate in critical analysis of results and quarterly reviews with senior and executive leadershipAssist with the development and implementation of new accounting policies and memos and the maintenance of existing ones.Facilitate and sustain a work environment that aligns with The Trade Desk culture, fostering accountability, growth, and a team-first approach.Collaborate with departments across the Company (Client Services, Deal Desk, FP&A, Billing, and other accounting teams, etc.) to ensure all transactions are posted in accordance with the Company’s revenue policy.Partner with the Revenue Deal Desk and Billing teams to identify and analyze issues related to revenue recognition and perform inquiries/investigations on unusual transactions.Oversee requests and deliverables made by external audit partners to ensure revenue recognition interpretations and receivable transactions are consistent with GAAP and provide related support.Support external SEC reporting and SOX processes, as needed.Who you are:A BA degree with an emphasis in Finance or Accounting; CPA or equivalent preferredMinimum 5 years of experience, preferably including public accounting audit backgroundTechnology industry, public company experience preferredStrong leadership skills with experience in developing both junior and tenured talentKnowledgeable in accounting and financial principles with interest in revenue managementOutstanding communication skills – including written and verbal communicationsStrong skillset demonstrating organizational, analytical and problem-solving abilitiesCapable of handling multiple high priorities in a fast-paced environment, operating effectively independently or on a team and having a willingness to learnOur Compensation and Benefits ( for NY, CO, CA, and WA residents only)At the Trade Desk, Base Salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is $83,000 -$152,100In accordance with NY, CO, CA, and WA law, the range provided is The Trade Desk's reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as sales-based incentives and commissions. Plus, expected benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with premiums paid in full for employees and dependents, retirement benefits such as a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, well-being benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, parental leave, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full time employees up to 120 hours thru the first year and 160 hours thereafter, and around 13 paid holidays per year.
