The Revenue Accountant will collaborate with various team members across the organization to support the order-to-cash and cost of gross revenue processes as needed. Responsibilities may include a combination of tasks focused on revenue and related costs (COGR), operational expenses, and reserves (SRA). Reporting to the Revenue Manager, the Revenue Accountant will learn The Trade Desk platform in terms of applying revenue recognition principles and ensuring efficiency and accuracy of transactional processing from both a technical accounting and operational perspective.What you’ll do:Participate and support the timely completion of the global revenue month-end close process, including preparation of revenue reserves/allowances, booking journal entries, maintaining account reconciliations, and analyzing fluctuationsReview, track, and validate deferred revenue, discounts, and revenue adjustments.Contribute to and participate in monthly sync meetings with global Credit and collections teams to better understand and assess collectability risk and potential credit lossTimely and accurate completion of monthly financial and compliance controldocumentation related to the revenue recognition of the order-to-cash (OTC) and/or cost of gross revenue (COGR) processesPrepare and distribute monthly executive management reporting and related commentaryUnderstand the AR, Billing, and credit/debit memo process (TTD platform) and review changes/test systemsSupport and collaborate with the Billing team on the credit/debit memo process as neededAdd value through participation in financial performance review activitiesFollow policies and systems to assist in efficient and accurate revenue accountingPerform various monthly transaction-level review controls for SOX within the order-to-cash processAssist with pulling supporting documents for external auditors during interim and annual auditsAssist with maintaining documentation for revenue accounting existing procedures and memosAssist in implementing business process improvements for The Trade Desk revenue accounting cycle to gain process efficiencies and automation as we continue to scaleParticipate in special projects, as neededWho you are:BA degree with an emphasis in Finance or Accounting or equivalent experienceMinimum 1-2 years of general ledger accounting experience (revenue accountingexperience a plus)Technology industry and/or public company experience a plusOutstanding communication skills—including written and verbal communication,interpersonal, analytical, negotiating, and problem-solving skillsStrong organizational skills and detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to workindependently to meet deadlines Ability to juggle multiple high priorities in a fast-paced environment and have a willingness to learnProficient in the use of Excel and spreadsheet applications Our Compensation and Benefits ( for NY, CO, CA, and WA residents only)At the Trade Desk, Base Salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range.  The base salary range for this role is $56,600 -$103,800In accordance with NY, CO, CA, and WA law, the range provided is The Trade Desk's reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role.  The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location.  All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as sales-based incentives and commissions.  Plus, expected benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with premiums paid in full for employees and dependents, retirement benefits such as a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, well-being benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, parental leave, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full time employees up to 120 hours thru the first year and 160 hours thereafter, and around 13 paid holidays per year.  Employees can also purchase The Trade Desk stock at a discount through The Trade Desk’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
