Data Science Risk AnalystDescription -HP Payment Fraud is a global resource shared by all parts of our business to help them become better managed and control payment risk. We are a valued advisor and business partner while influencing and ensuring fiduciary control and delivering payment risk management excellence within HP Legal’s Brand Protection division.Position Summary:Assists with HP Fraud Prevention directives to include the risk model, analytics, internal systems, external solutions, and reporting. Provides data analytics support for the fraud detection and prevention of existing business. Supports implementation of new businesses or solutions into HP’s Payment Gateway solution or equivalent. Responsible for assisting in all enhancements for HP’s Fraud systems and solutions. Works directly with IT to drive quick resolution to system issues affecting HP’s Fraud system and solutions. Actively engages in the research, testing, and implementation of Fraud systems and solutions enhancements. Knowledge:Applies developed subject matter knowledge to solve common and complex business issues within established guidelines and recommends appropriate alternatives.Complexity and scope:Works on problems of diverse complexity and scope. May act as a team or project leader providing direction to team activities and facilitates information validation and team decision making process. Exercises independent judgment within generally defined policies and practices to identify and select a solution.Supervision:Ability to handle most unique situations. May seek advice to make decisions on complex business issues.Main Responsibilities:Data Analysis and ReportingPerforms data analysis and applies developed data mining techniques to identify suspicious behavior trends, outliers, anomalies and other issues that represent fraud riskDetects and defines fraud trends through quantitative data analysis and recommends solutions to deter fraud attacks and communicates those trends to designated leadsPerforms ad-hoc investigative and statistical analytics to facilitate risk investigations and assists external stakeholders in their investigation of risk eventsPerform link analysis of known patterns of fraud and anomalies where known patterns are violated to uncover new fraud patternsDevelops operational metrics and benchmarking analysis and comparisons through reporting and trending for designated regional or country fraud preventionPrepares and develops daily, weekly and monthly reports, maintains key performance indicators towards global consistency to align to business expectations and business driversAnalyzes performance and results and their underlying causes and recommends solutions to ensure goal attainmentRisk and fraud detection modelsAdjusts and maintains fraud detection models to prevent losses on real time on-line customer transactionsApplies developed skills and knowledge in designated regional or country fraud detection models to provide the greatest efficiency and effectiveness balancing PFCC and partner KPI’sOptimizes the fraud risk model by removing rules with low loss rate but keeping the structure to ensure that fraud attempts can be quickly identified; improves decline rate in outsort rules and loss rate in approve rulesAssist in validation of the risk model frequently and in-depth when encountering a fraud attackRun reports to validate the model periodicallyEnsure fraud detection methods offered comply with financial industry security regulations and consumer privacy laws as they relate to the Company's operationsMaintains user access to fraud prevention systems for designated regional or country fraud preventionRecommends system enhancement requests, evaluates new tools, applications and servicesMonitoring operations and industry trendsProvides successful coordination with other Company departments, including Sales Operations, AR, OM, and Call Centers to ensure efforts are effective, successful and reflect the Company's strategyAwareness of store policy & procedure changes that might impact the model and adjust accordinglyAwareness of industry trends in any fraud prevention related areas, including new fraud patterns, services, detection tools or any new technologyAnalyze system declined suspected fraud orders, fraud chargebacks and customer reported fraud tracker data regularly and propose adjustments to the risk modelProjects and Process ImprovementParticipates in projects as an engaged team member and takes responsibility for assigned tasksCommunicates with stakeholders within PFCC to solve problemsRecommends new procedures for fraud analysis based on current trendsRecommends process changes and system updates to ensure attaining operational goalsRecommends approaches for screening system approved orders against fraud MiscellaneousTakes over the essential responsibilities of other team members (back-up) when necessaryShares experience and relevant information regarding work procedures with team membersParticipates in trainings, holds and participates in presentations and reviewsQualificationsVery Fluent English (oral and written) – 90% plus requiredFirst level degree in statistics, mathematics industrial engineering or related area of study, or equivalent experience requiredRelevant experience in data analytics, and/or statistics, and/or risk modeling, and/or fraud detection, and/or development of technical solutions for fraud prevention requiredStrong proficiency in MS Excel, MS Access, MS PowerPoint requiredFirm understanding of statistics and a proven background identifying, understanding, solving, and communicating complex problemsRelative financial industry experience and understanding of risk mitigation principles & practices preferredExcellent business writing and verbal communication skillsMust have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with peers and personnel at all both higher and lower job levelsAbility to work flexible hours including overtime as required Proven ability to deal with ambiguityDemonstrates ability to perform independently and show initiativeProven ability to manage and deliver on multiple tasks and projects that overlapProven ability to manage and deliver multiple tasks and projects in a fast, paced and changing environment Self-starter, innovative, creative thinking, real-world achievement, passion with data are highly coveted attributes for successful candidateJob -FinanceSchedule -Full timeShift -No shift premium (Romania)Travel -Relocation -NoEEO Tagline - HP Inc. is EEO F/M/Protected Veteran/ Individual with Disabilities.
