Senior System Software Engineer - Cloud Networking

NVIDIA is looking for a Senior System Software Engineer - Cloud Networking to join the NGN GPU Cloud Infrastructure group, working to design and deliver the platforms that enable deep learning, game streaming, content delivery, and generative AI systems in the cloud. This position will focus on design, development, and implementation of software defined infrastructure. The candidate will be a technical subject matter expert in complex network, virtualization, server, and storage systems. We have crafted a team of extraordinary people stretching around the globe, whose mission is to push the frontiers of what is possible today and define the platform of tomorrow.What you will be doing:Design, prototype, implement and help operate the next generation of virtualized, programmable, and scalable multi-tenant networking for highly secured, highly performant and easy to manage global cloud infrastructure for NVIDIA GPU-based applications such as Deep Learning, Game Streaming, Content Delivery, and Generative AI.Actively participate in systems design, code reviews, test authoring, feature development, bug triage, configuration, documentation, and bug fixes – including open source and NVIDIA internal software projects.Benchmark, evaluate, and optimize the performance, reliability, and efficiency of network and storage subsystems and applications.Lead and participate in PoC and development efforts for various application use cases, working with cloud tenants, application owners, and solutions architects to design optimal and performant systems.What we need to see:BS or MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, and 4+ years of network software engineering experience.Strong knowledge and experience designing and writing concurrent code for large-scale performance-optimized distributed systems.  Proficiency with Golang and Python are a plus.Experience in crafting network architecture for cloud/distributed systems with a track record of designing performant systems across multiple teams and bringing them into production.Background with Kubernetes networking, CNI, OVS/OVN (Open Virtual Switch) or other K8s CNI.Experience integrating network, storage, and compute technologies with virtual machine and container orchestration systems.Experience with software defined networks and a thorough understanding of relevant protocols and principles such as TCP, UDP, IP, Openflow, Geneve, VXLAN, IPSEC, VLAN, and BGP.Excellent problem solving, collaborative, and interpersonal skills.  Outstanding communication and soft skills, able to present to senior management in a sensible and persuasive manner.  Ability to influence and build relationships with other software teams and functional groups.Ability to root-cause functional and performance issues in network and storage infrastructure and other distributed systems – and drive issues to closure.Proficiency with the Linux kernel and in Linux userspace development, debugging, and performance optimization.  Expert-level Linux-based systems configuration and administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, Rocky or other Enterprise Linux).A security-first approach with a strong desire to deliver high-quality products.Ways to stand out from the crowd:Deployment or development experience with OVN-Kubernetes, Open vSwitch (OVS), OVN, or OpenShift SDN.  Hands-on experience implementing SR-IOV and RDMA are a plus.Working directly with ConnectX NICs, BlueField DPUs, NFV features or other network offload technologies.GitOps and DevOps experience with tooling such as FluxCD, ArgoCD, Helm Charts, Terraform and/or Ansible.Active participation in open source upstream projects and/or developer/community events.Experience working in distributed teams across multiple time zones.Locations:Poland, WarsawPoland, RemoteHungary, BudapestHungary, RemoteNVIDIA is widely considered to be one of the technology world’s most desirable employers.
