The position offers challenging hypothesis-driven projects for experts in the research lifecycle with a desire to become a leader in data-driven science management practices.We are looking for a Principal Consultant to join our Academic&Government Consulting Team in Beijing or Shanghai. This is an amazing opportunity to work on academic and research consulting. The role is reporting to VP, Solution Consulting. We have a great skill set and resource in Bibliometrics and we would love to speak with you if you have the related experience of engaging with C-suite executives and senior level managers at academic and research institutions, funders, and government agencies, and R&D firms.About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments 10+ years of experience as a senior leader in government, industry or academic research intensive organizations and  7+ years of relevant consulting/advisory experience supporting clients within the academic and/or government spaces; or.Education strongly preferred at the Ph.D. level or equivalent professional experience or a combination of education and experience in research-related data analyticsExperience working with government agencies or research funding agencies in evaluating or managing scientific portfoliosExperience working with university research leaders (Provost, Chief Research Officer, etc.) in funding and managing research administration and commercialization activity.Expertise on the research, development and innovation enterprise and its various components in Greater China, as well as familiarity with other regional (APAC) or global research enterprise contexts.First hand knowledge with how research is performed, funded, and/or managedKnowledge of science citation data such as Web of Science, bibliometric and scientometric methodsComfort in managing projects that include data storage, retrieval, analysis, and synthesis, including interpretation of, and dissemination, of findingsAbility to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sourcesDemonstrated project and team management capabilities with the ability to provide an inclusive workplace that fosters the development of others, facilitates cooperation and teamwork, and supports constructive resolution of conflictsProven record in new business development in Greater China, or the broader Asia Pacific region.What will you be doing in this role?Driving business development/new business by leveraging their existing network, as well as Clarivate’s network, by engaging with C-suite executives and senior level managers at academic and research institutions, funders, and government agencies, and R&D firms. Spending roughly 60% time on business development with annual target of ~ $1.4 million in bookings and ~40% on overseeing project delivery (e.g., quality assurance, final reporting, coaching project team members, etc.)Consulting with clients to define their needs and ensuring client satisfaction through delivery of quality services completed within the agreed upon timeframesIdentifying appropriate data and methodologies to answer client questions, and interpreting resultsLeading the design and implementation of projects as a senior leader of a multidisciplinary analyst teamOrganizing teams to respond quickly to requests for proposals, developing project workplans, and budgetsDriving projects to completion within a designated budget and timeframeCollaborating with a diverse group of subject matter experts, executives, and managersCommunicating complex research findings and innovative methodologies clearly and effectively through written research reports, data visualizations, client or conference presentations and peer-reviewed journal publications, in both Chinese and EnglishWorking independently and as part of a teamDeveloping and overseeing project plans, schedules, and milestones, while adhering to standard processes and methodologiesServing as a point of contact to answer client questions and resolve project issuesManaging both people and projects; project management skills and capabilities; and experience with managing and coaching direct reportsConducting annual performance reviews and providing feedback to enhance staff performanceHours of Work 40 working hours per week, customers in APAC time zone, manager in the US.Hybrid model, with 2-3 days working in office or visiting customersAt Clarivate, we are committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all persons with respect to hiring, compensation, promotion, training, and other terms, conditions, and privileges of employment.
