We are looking for highly motivated and experienced Patent Attorney to join our IP Laws team as Senior Director, IP Counsel. This amazing opportunity to drive the delivery of the best in class IP law content and rule workflow utilized by Clarivate proprietary products and services, including IP Lifecycle Management systems and Annuity platforms.  You will be a member of the senior management team, leading a global management team to ensure customers benefit from products and services utilizing reliable and accurate information on IP law and practice and to maximize a core value of the business. As the leader of this function, you will define and execute against IP Law strategies and steer the research, configuration and support of intellectual property laws ensuring high quality IP products and service while reducing business risk.Additionally, you will be the professional lead for your area of IP expertise maintaining a deep understanding of the current and historical IPs laws docketing practices throughout the IP lifecycle worldwide.About You – Experience, Education, Skills, and Accomplishments  10+ years’ experience as a practicing European and/or UK patent attorney, preferably with experience in a prominent national law firm and/or in-house position.Broad, overview experience in intellectual property law, including patent law in relation to the IP Lifecycle including maintenance and annuity matters, licensing of IP rights and IP due diligence.Demonstrated skills in leading and developing global teams comprising mixed technical, administrative and legally qualified staff and professionals.Demonstrated ability to understand and manage commercial risks for multiple complex strategic projects.Ability to apply business and technical expertise to identify potential issues and partner with colleagues across the organization to solve problems of significant importance to the company.Proven ability to make critical decisions in the face of competing pressures and resolve complex business problems at a regional or functional level.Experience in directing strategy.It would be great if you also had . . .  Experience with US patents and the corresponding law workflowExperience leading operations and developing business process workflowExperience using an IP Management systemWhat will you be doing in this role?Develop and articulate a clear a strategy and execute to ensure jurisdiction IP laws are up to date and provide value add across Clarivate products/services and renewal platformsSet clear goals, track performance metrics, and drive the team towards achieving key product milestones and business objectives.Validate and align Clarivate’s comprehensive IP law content coordinating in pro-active audits and exploiting the value while mitigating riskSet global standards for customer engagement and delivery on matters relating to legal research and law implementation.  Manage global customer engagement issues relating to laws, docketing workflow and software configurations.Collaboratively solve for complex IP Law and docketing updates by designing and implementing specific business solutionsBe the Subject Matter Expert for broader IP function on core systems development changes impacting the law update service and patent risk mitigationEducate and support the business in establishing the governance needed to meet the law standardsForm strong relations and closely collaborate across the business, including product management, technology and operationsChair Law Review Board to ensure implementation consistency and adherence to best practice standardsBudget and cost management responsibility for functionAbout the Team  Our team is responsible for providing periodic releases of IP law updates to our clients in accordance with new laws or law changes. The main purpose of this role is to lead the team to coordinate the research, interpretation, analysis, implementation and testing of new or modified intellectual property laws into the law engines utilized by Clarivate proprietary products and services including IP Management Software Systems and Renewal Platforms. Subsequently, the law updates are published to customers including release notes and other related documentation, along with providing deep expertise support. This enables customers to keep their IP portfolio accurate and up to date.
