We are looking for a Senior Privacy Counsel to join our global team.Reporting to the Chief Privacy Officer, you will work closely with various teams to enhance Clarivate's worldwide privacy initiatives.You will be a source of strategic guidance, advice, and operational proficiency throughout the organization, mitigating privacy-related risks in alignment with business goals.This is an amazing opportunity for a privacy attorney capable of functioning within a global framework and possessing an in-depth understanding of international privacy regulations.About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments.UK legal qualification such as a solicitor or barrister or equivalent EU qualification.7+ years post qualification experience required, with significant experience advising on global privacy matters either at a law firm or in-house.Previous experience drafting policies, procedures and negotiating data protection agreements.It would be great if you also had . . .Expert knowledge of privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, PIPL, LGPD, CCPA/CPRA, etc.Previous experience translating complex rules and regulations into straightforward requirements that are easily understood by all levels.Understanding of and/or experience in implementing Privacy by Design.What will you be doing in this role?Work collaboratively and cross-functionally with colleagues and stakeholders to gain alignment on decisions and goals, and drive privacy-forward solutions for long term strategic efficiency.Assess legal risks and provide recommendations to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.Provide input on both tactics and strategy, advising the business across all levels in the organization on best practices and compliance with global privacy and data protection laws.Draft and implement policies, procedures and other governance documents at all levels of the organization to support regulatory and contractual obligations.Review, draft, and negotiate data privacy terms in client and vendor agreements, including, but not limited to, data processing agreements, transfer agreements, and standard contractual clauses.Play key role in investigating, documenting, and remediating potential security incidents that impact personal data.Stay abreast of global data privacy and security laws, regulations, enforcement actions, and impacts of new technology.Work with and support the business in interactions with external parties, including regulatory agencies, customers and third parties in order to meet regulatory and contractual requirements.Represent the privacy team in design and implementation of new processes and systems affecting personal data.Generate and review privacy impact assessments, data inventories and maps, and other documents evidencing data protection due diligence and compliance.Develop and deliver privacy training and other communications to raise employee awareness and understanding of data protection obligations and best practices to minimize risk.About the TeamThe role reports to the Chief Privacy Officer based in US.
