We operate in over 30 countries and generate most of our earnings outside the US. As we continue to grow globally, we face increasingly complex foreign currency markets and seek scalable solutions to address multiple objectives – from cash flow predictability, through earnings protection, to reducing our equity at risk.Our constant growth through both organic expansion and M&A, combined with the capital-intensive nature of our business and our commitment to paying dividends as a REIT, drive our need to regularly fund our business through incremental debt and equity issuances. You will collaborate closely with our Capital Markets team on defining optimal sources of debt financing across multiple currencies, tenors, and instruments. You will also lead the interest rate hedging strategies for the new debt issuances as well as for the existing debt portfolio.This position reports to the Treasurer, oversees a team of 4-5 treasury professionals, and plays a key role in supporting Equinix’s international growth. The ideal candidate has operated successfully at a global leadership level and has a desire to develop, mentor and coach the FX and Rates team. This is a high visibility position that will require partnering with FP&A, tax and other finance and accounting functions across the globe and will require presentations to Sr. Management and the Board.The role can be located in Toronto, Canada or Redwood City, CA.ResponsibilitiesCoach and develop the FX and Interest Rate team by sharing best practices and encouraging proactive and creative problem solvingLead development and implementation of FX and Interest Rate hedging strategies, for both “business as usual” and unique transactions, e.g., M&A or capital raisesDefine interest rate and foreign exchange risk tolerance levels based on historical and anticipated market volatility and potential impact to the Company’s key KPIsUtilize hedging instruments and techniques including FX forward and spot transactions, options, rate swaps and rate locksEstablish performance benchmarks and reporting on hedge effectiveness, P&L, taxable income and cash impactsGuide the team in identifying opportunities for process improvements and automationPartner with FP&A, tax, accounting, and finance teams to understand key drivers impacting foreign exchange exposure and be a key internal advisor to the organization regarding foreign exchange risk managementOversee execution of FX spot and forward transactionsSupport international cash management efforts including netting and pooling arrangementsEnsure SOX and policy compliance and review FX-related SEC reporting and disclosuresManage counterparty risk including ISDA documentation and negotiationDevelop and maintain relationships with trading counterpartsSupport Treasurer with Capital Markets, M&A, and other initiativesQualificationsCollaboration and teamworkIntegrity, initiative, reliability, and ability to meet deadlinesExperience in treasury, corporate FP&A, or FX & Rates consultingInvestment banking experience a plusStrong analytical and financial modeling skillsFamiliarity with FXall, Bloomberg, Reval, Oracle a plusUnderstanding of accounting principles to support foreign exchange risk managementGood oral and written communication skillsBachelor’s degree with MBA and/or CFA/ CPA a plusEquinix is committed to ensuring that our employment process is open to all individuals, including those with a disability.
