We look forward to coming to work every day to support Equinix and each other and highly value the “team first” culture we have created.This new role of Senior Legal Counsel, Real Estate, Construction & Power will be part of our core xScale Legal team and primarily responsible for the real estate, construction and power legal support model for the xScale joint venture portfolio globally. Given the geographic scope and volume of properties within the xScale portfolio, the candidate will collaborate with and rely on resources across the wider One Legal team who are specializing in real estate and infrastructure within regional teams.The xScale business was established in 2019 and comprises several joint ventures set up with investment partners to pursue Equinix’s larger scale deployments with certain nominated cloud service and technology providers. It is a growing, dynamic and fast paced business with ambitions to evolve in the future to meet growing customer demand.What You'll DoAct as a member of the team developing specific expertise to support our xScale business within Equinix and leverage the expertise of Equinix in developing and operating world class data centers which will include collaborating with legal colleagues specializing in real estate and infrastructure within the relevant Regional Legal teamLeading on post-close matters within the xScale portfolio including subdividing real estate, power sharing agreements, intra-group real estate reorganization workstreams and certain post close construction workstreamsLeading on related party direct leasing arrangements between the joint venture party and EquinixLeading on the real estate, construction and power workstreams associated with the disposal of properties within the xScale portfolio including advising on structuring, coordinating due diligence and working alongside xScale Corporate legal colleagues on transactional documentationReview and interpret real estate, construction and power contracts with respect to the xScale portfolio in response to requests from the xScale business and support functions for xScale, in particular for Corporate Development, Finance, Tax and TreasurySupport for ensuring compliance with regard to xScale and wider Equinix policies, processes and procedures to ensure proper governance is followed, at all times seeking to drive consistency and scale across the portfolio globallyManagement of xScale real estate, construction and power precedent data bases, development of precedents and the provision of training to key business partners and members of the wider One Legal global teamBuild and maintain business relationships, and handle challenging workflows, appropriately prioritizing with partners in xScale, Real Estate, Corporate Development and Design & Construction; andManagement and coordination with external legal counsel across multiple jurisdictions engaged to provide legal support for the various activities referred to aboveWhat You NeedDegree qualification with solid post qualification experience as a real estate lawyer in middle or top tier law firm and/or a large multi-national organization is essentialExposure to and understanding of construction and utilities law as well as joint ventures and/or fund structures is desirableSome in-house experience including by way of secondment is desirableStrong interpersonal skills, track record of collaborating with internal colleagues, able to work independently and multi-taskExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong eye for business, problem solving abilities and good judgmentDedication to high standards for work product and resultsAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively to manage competing priorities.
