In this role you will lead projects and incident resolution; manage financial activities such as detailed bottoms-up budget generation and ongoing forecasts, purchase decision evaluation and due diligence throughout the organization’s headcount, capital and expense purview and provide status reports, internal/external customer and interdepartmental communications.ResponsibilitiesLeadershipAssign, instruct, and direct supervisors and managersProvide and ensure mentorship and career development opportunitiesAccountable and responsible for adherence to and evolution of global standardsPartner with other metro leads/directors as well as cross functional leads to review/compare Data Center best practices with regards to both engineering and customer operationsPartner with non-Ops SME’s on metro related issues, concerns and projectsProject ManagementManage complex projects (i.e., determines project budget and scope) and designates work to teamManage multi-departmental project teamsSystems SupportManage the troubleshooting and fault resolution of complex faults by investigating the issue, identifying the cause and implementing the required fixSummarize the findings during the troubleshooting and produces Incident Reports for the customerImplement new strategies to prevent potential problemsInstallationOversee site surveys, cost estimates to sales and installation of new cablesEnsure that installations are performed according to company standards and policiesVendor ManagementManage, brief, and instruct vendors for installation, testing, and labelingOversees procurement of vendorsMaintenanceManage all maintenance to data center equipment and ensures that standards are metBudgetCreate, review and submit annual opex, capex and headcount budgets for the metroApprove recommendations and pricing with local suppliers and keeps servicing records to ensure that datacenter infrastructure is properly maintainedReview and approve proposals for data center infrastructure improvementsTechnical ExpertiseAdvanced knowledge in some of, with functional technical knowledge in most of, the following areas:Network and equipment platformsNetwork systems andPhysical Network circuitsElectrical Power Distribution and Capacity ManagementUninterruptible Power Systems (UPS)Diesel Engine – Emergency Power Plants48V DC Power DistributionHVAC Systems and Air distributionMotor Controls and DrivesChemical Water TreatmentDigital Building Management Control Systems – ALC, Siemens, etc.Fire Detection and Protection SystemsAbility to apply knowledge in implementing new proceduresMust have excellent written and verbal communications skills, and ability to use Windows, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word and Visio with proficiencyMust be able to produce all necessary documentation of maintenance tasks, incidents, situational analysis and recommendations, etc.Qualifications10 or more years of experience in critical facility operations5 years or more prior management experience to include managing multiple facilitiesHS Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred data24dEquinix is committed to ensuring that our employment process is open to all individuals, including those with a disability. If you are a qualified candidate and need assistance or an accommodation, please let us know by completing this form.Equinix is an Equal Employment Opportunity and, in the U.S., an Affirmative Action employer.
