Ensure that technically sound and efficient operating policies are in place to drive continuous improvement within operations. Collaborate within Equinix and external groups to seek out and implement industry best practices. Assume ownership for the formal development and knowledge transfer with our critical facilities engineers and managers to enable their success. Evaluate new cooling and power equipment offerings to ensure that they meet Equinix operating requirements.Job ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain a group of industry recognized domain experts covering all areas of data center facility operationsLead the implementation of global initiatives and projects which focus on enhancing reliability, improve cost performance, CFE time efficiency or enhance sustainabilityEnsure complete development of our critical facilities engineers and managers by establishing content and post-training evaluation requirements in collaboration with Global Operations AcademyContinually seek out and implement new best practices that improve operating performance using Equinix internal and outside industry consortiums as sourcesEnsure operating and maintenance policy decisions are driven by data driven analysis and changes are promptly communicated throughout all stakeholder groupsCoordinate and lead ad-hoc technical guidance and decision-making as needed by other groupsEncourage team to frequently socialize and support other GOE and external groupsEstablish monthly meetings with operations teams to share information on upcoming changes, SME discussion topics, gain insight of issues occurring in the field and to gain useful feedback to drive continual improvement of operating policies and practicesDrive team participation on industry recognized boards, data center consortiums and conferencesLead all aspects of implementation of operating policies that provide clear direction and support changing operating requirements and objectivesEnsure that all critical documentation, reports, drawings are well-organized for easy access by all stakeholder groupsLead due diligence efforts for evaluating new power and cooling equipment considerationsDevelop and coordinate due diligence/integration tasks for supporting data center acquisition activitiesQualificationsDemonstrated expertise in engineering design, operations, maintenance, and project planning with an emphasis & special focus on data center or mission critical systemsExtensive experience in data center critical facility engineering, including mechanical, electrical, and control systemsTechnical expertise in critical power and cooling systems, life safety, and environmental complianceKnowledge and experience using data driven tools/techniques (e.g., Lean/Six Sigma) to identify optimization opportunitiesStrong motivational skills and dedication to get people passionate about new, innovative waysStrength in selling an idea across to other collaborators through persuasive discussions and effective presentation skillsExperience leading, encouraging, and developing a diverse team of domain experts with dedication to maintaining and improving processes and cultureAvailability for participation in meetings across time zonesTwenty-five percent domestic and international travelEquinix is committed to ensuring that our employment process is open to all individuals, including those with a disability. If you are a qualified candidate and need assistance or an accommodation, please let us know by completing this form.Equinix is an Equal Employment Opportunity and, in the U.S., an Affirmative Action employer. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training. This position may be offered in other locations. The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
