The Role Reporting to the Senior Vice President Global Construction, the Vice President Construction EMEA plays a key, senior role in the Global Design and Construction organisation driving strategy, policy, leadership, and direction for the design of all Data Center expansion projects across the region. Equally, the leader focuses on continuous improvement and innovation in construction mangement, always ensuring the industry’s best-in-class and sustainable solutions for customers.Key responsibilities:The VP Construction EMEA leads a large, complex global function that is critical to Equinix’s seamless growth in the zone.Directly controls and running capital expenditure with $’bns of project spent and 50-100 projectsEngages directly with E-suite, Regional MTs, Business Unit leaders, joint venture partners, customers & other critical internal and external partnersThe VP is is industry-facing – leads how Equinix fronts up and does business with its extended international supply chain and impacted communitiesThe VP is responsible for a team of 35-50 people (10 direct) distributed across the country including outsourced providers.Knowledge and Experience sought:Demonstrable experience in large-scale commercial or industrial construction leadership ideally in the data centre or technology space. We’re open to considering people from adjacent industries such as, but not limited to: semiconductors, photonics, pharmaceuticals/biotech, oil and gas/petro-chemical refining, renewables and auto industriesSubstantial track record of managing similar-sized capex budgets ($bn/X hundreds millions) and span of projects (50+)Proven success in engaging successfully with an extended international supply chain to deliver data centre builds.Solid knowledge of driving construction project development strategy in a high-growth environmentAuthentic leader with humility and strong people management skills well-versed in driving results through a team of a similar size (30+)Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experienceExtensive experience in communicating to and collaborating with C/E-suite level stakeholdersSkills and Attributes:Consistent record in seeing the ‘bigger long-term picture’ and thinking strategically while achieving short-term resultsInspirational leader with tight-knit collaboration skills and proven ability to work cross-functionally with diverse business unit leadersDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively and persuasivelyProactive, collaborative, and able to work comfortably in a non-hierarchical, matrixed contextRegional business management – able to understand regional dynamics and requirements of focus markets.Ability to deliver results in a large, matrixed environment comprising a broad range of internal stakeholders.Ability to collaborate with and influence stakeholders across the organizational ladder to drive behavioral change and implementation of initiatives.Demonstrates our critical competences of transformation leadership.Equinix is an equal opportunity employer.
