Smartsheet is looking for our next Engineering Manager to help us build and drive some of our projects and operational initiatives in the MONDO team. This team owns Tier 1 services, including the monolithic core app deployments, databases, and several supporting components, as well as services which tie together various Smartsheet feature services and Finance.
This is a highly visible area where we are having significant investment. You will help us in hiring, defining the road map, and in technical aspects, such as performance optimization, cost savings, service design, coding best practices, security, and more. You will mentor engineers, scale the team and be a leader on the projects. You will promote positive change in the work environment with experience delivering on commitments. You will communicate proactively to different audiences, including executives and non-technical partners.

You will report to our Sr. Manager, Engineering located in our Bellevue office, or you may work remotely from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer.
You Will:
Establish priorities based on technical needs and company objectives
Lead, coach, and inspire your team to achieve exceptional results
Provide mentorship in holistic professional development and in specific technical areas
Manage a team of 3-6 software engineers to continuously improve stability, performance, and deliver great product
Drive the development and success of multiple products and services
Promote engineering excellence, architectural development, AWS cost optimization, and operational monitoring best practices for highly available services
Collaborate with partner teams across the company including engineering, finance, product management, development, UX design, and customer support teams
Own the front-end, backend services, and AWS infrastructure that powers the core Smartsheet app
You Have:
8+ years of fullstack software engineering or devops experience and 2+ years managing software engineering teams.
A deep software development skills in at least one systems development language such as C#, C++, Python, Java, or JavaScript.
Intense curiosity about how things work and a natural drive to continuously improve systems.
Experience with modern technology stacks for building scalable, high availability customer-facing applications.
Experience in distributed systems, systems automation, and cloud technologies.
The drive to dive in, constantly learn new things, and build awesome products
A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience

Smartsheet provides a competitive range of compensation for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location. In addition, this role will be eligible for a market competitive bonus and RSU stock grant upon accepted offer. California & New York: $167,400 to $243,000 | All other US States: $155,000 to $225,000.
