What We’re Looking For: The Grant Writer will search for available grants and research their requirements to find opportunities that align with their organization’s mission to develop and grow the Social Enterprise & Innovation Center of Excellence.  The Grant Writer will research, write, format, and submit compelling, high-quality grant proposals to funding agencies (federal, state, and private foundations) while applying knowledge of fundraising methods and plans to reach goals. This role is responsible for proactively researching and analyzing grant opportunities and making recommendations on their feasibility. Position will collaborate with leaders and team members to develop relationships with key stakeholders and develop supporting documents and maintain donor database and records. Before applying for a grant, Grant Writers communicate with company leadership to confirm that they are interested in collaborating with the foundation or organization offering the grant. Manages multiple projects and priorities including searching for funding sources, writing proposals, managing existing grants, reporting to stakeholders, and working on special projects. This position reports to the Senior Director, Head of Access Partnerships, Americas.  Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To: Research & Data Collection  Investigates local, state, federal, private, foundation, and corporate sources of funds. This includes reviewing materials, listservs, meetings, phone contacts, and correspondence Prepares proposals by conducting research, gathering internal and external data to support grants requests, writing drafts, and obtaining approvals. Maintains the overall quality of proposals by creating, maintaining, and revising proposal templates and proposal support databases. RFP & Grant Writing  Performs internal reviews of institutional needs, collects and gathers program data, and assesses the feasibility of obtaining external funding for project and program proposals Develops and maintains an internal grant application process Creates and updates the grants development calendar. Coordinates, develops, and processes grant applications from conceptual to submission stage while working closely with staff throughout all phases Ensures that the department meets proposal deadlines by determining priorities and target dates for information gathering, drafting, editing, revising, and submitting proposals Writes and edits executive summaries, conclusions, and organizational and program descriptions Collaboration & Communication Identifies funding needs and opportunities and attends strategy meetings. Collaborates with fund personnel to gather input for all projects and comply with requests for data and other information Communicates the proposal strategy and progress to other organizational stakeholders, and obtains input and signoff on content from other departments as needed. Prepares presentations by assembling and overseeing the printing and digital presentation of proposals, including text and graphics. Systems Development  Develops and maintains a grant management system for funded grants that includes report due dates, budget adherence, and any other grant requirements Develops and maintains a library of information on funding sources, grant writing, and community and state data relevant to the foundation’s programs and services Things That Should Be In Your Background: Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree or relevant experience preferred 5+ years of grant writing experience 3+ years of project management experience Strong research, communication, and publication writing skills Critical thinking skills; must be autonomous and self-driven; must be able to work well independently and with others Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills Knowledgeable of funding sources, compliance issues, and legal and fiscal policies of funding sources and appropriate government agencies Implement the use of technology to assist with grants development and management High degree of initiative to find solutions and meet deadlines Read, comprehend, interpret, and apply governmental regulations and proposal guidelines Work independently, be computer literate, and possess the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Salesforce and Tableau experience preferred We are looking to hire someone who is available to come into our Headquarters in Lanham, MD two days a week for a hybrid work schedule.  Benefits & Culture Our global employee base is a diverse collection of innovators, dreamers, and doers working together to transform lives through higher education.
