We are seeking a passionate, organized and action oriented Enterprise Data Architect to join our IT team. Reporting to the Head of IT, this position will play a crucial role in providing architectural designs and building technology solutions for enterprise and research data management and analytics. The Enterprise Data Architect will also be responsible for interacting with and influencing all areas of technology and work closely with the business stakeholders to align the data architecture capabilities to support business strategy and goals.This role will be based in Emeryville, California.
How you’ll contribute:
Develop an inventory of the enterprise’s data and store it in the enterprise data catalog
Define and implement enterprise information management strategies for data acquisitions, data management and data security
Design and develop enterprise-wide data integration strategies to enable the efficient and effective flow of data between systems
Establish and lead data governance team to define taxonomy, master data domains, identify critical data elements, develop master data model, build data catalogs and implement data quality rules
Evaluate and implement enterprise data analysis and visualization tools
Partner with IT and Business teams to drive the creation and evolution of a data-centric technology road map that defines current and future technical architectures
Collaborate with data scientists, bioinformatics specialists, and IT team members to establish best practices related to data architecture and data management
Develop and maintain technical documentation and specifications.
What you bring:
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering or a related field
Eight years of data/database design and development, systems or applications development experience, life sciences industry strongly preferred
At least five years experience in the following areas: Enterprise Data Governance, Master Data Management, Data Privacy and Security, Machine Learning, and Data Pipeline Operations
Technical proficiency with data architecture, data models, and database design development, as well as experience with data mining and data processing technologies
Strong problem solving skills and ability to effectively communicate technical information to non technical stakeholders
Highly collaborative, team-oriented, and considerate of the needs of others
Thrives in a fast-moving, results-oriented startup environment with urgent deadlines.
California Pay Transparency Disclosure:
This position is classified as an exempt position under the Federal Labor Standards Act. The anticipated base salary range for this position will be $165,000-$185,000 annually . You will also be eligible to receive equity, bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits depending on the position offered. Please note that individual total compensation for this position will be determined at the Company’s sole discretion and may vary based on location, skill level, years and depth of relevant experience, and education.
